   It’s because this show’s in japan, therefore its references are understandable in a Japanese culture, not American, though there are some things shared by both Japanese and American cultures.

   …this isn’t the first season…please understand that…there are 2 other season’s before this, and if you watch them you’ll understand what this show is about. it’s a social commentary type comedy, with Harem type influences ^_^

   Also, the subs are misleadingly correct sometimes, and totally wrong in other parts. In defense of the subber, though, the vocabulary and material is not very easy translate into english. The jokes in this series are pretty obscure, but totally worth it.
