GET READY! This will be a great great show, but will definitely not be for the faint of heart or weak of stomach. Been reading the manga, and this looks to be much more graphic than higurashi.
Can’t wait for subs, and can’t wait to see how this plot plays out.

Yayyy, I finally get to see the show I’ve been waiting for. Umineko is going to be amazing, just like Higurashi, in my opinion.

@mike This is the third season of the “When They Cry” series. The first two seasons were Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. However, they don’t have a direct effect on this story and watching/reading is unnecessary for understanding the plot. Only one person is really related to Higurashi, and you don’t have to know her past to enjoy the show.
Also, if you watch Higurashi and Kai, check out the first chapter of Minagoroshi-hen afterward. The anime does a suck job of explaining Bernkastel.

you really should try watching the next episode. right now you’ve just seen the introduction of the characters. in the next episode the story will begin to develop. i’m reading the manga and it really is an interesting story.

I wasn’t too impressed. Everything seemed slammed together intoa big mess of names, family politics and ’sinister’ prophecies. I know it’s a first episode, but it came off as really untidy. Higurashi had great pacing I thought, so I’m betting this will pick up and get better as it settles into a good flow of events.
