to Justice00 no he was not referring to Gundam 00 when he said “Unit 00 when its been hit by a beam”. He was referring to Neon Genesis Evangelion when Unit 00 (the blue EVA) was protecting Unit 01 (the purple EVA) from a beam of a angel
The 00 reference also could have been referring to evangelion, specifically when Eva Unit 00 has to shield Shinji from an angel blast during one of their operations.

All of you have missed the point. We are passive observers of what is shown to us onscreen. The point is that we have become something like Nagato, we only observe, and do not interact with the anime itself.
The repeating of episodes, each only slightly different, is much the same as Nagato’s repeating of the summer. What we should in fact be looking for are the subtle differences between them, as those differences are what are building into the denouement.
You guys can feel relieved, this endless cycle finally will arrive to its end in the next episode.

I dunno about the rest of you but I’m enjoying these episodes. I really loved the first season, and this is one of my favourite anime, and when I really get into stuff I love to obsess over it and analyse it, one of the reason i love evangelion. these eps are really giving me an opportunity to do that, since i get to be really nerdy about noticing all the subtle differences. The director is of course taking a huge risk with this, since this wont appeal to a lot of people though.
Could be that the director is taking a very evangelion-ish approach to this though. What i mean is one of the things evangelion did really well, and to great controversy (especially eps 25 and 26), was put you into the mind of the characters by making the audience feel what they feel rather than by just saying/showing us “this character is feeling like this”. Overall this provides a much more subtle, but powerful experience and understanding of the characters. These eps are obviously all about nagato… but to what end im not sure… the suspense is building up and I can’t wait to see what happens… The fact that this is eva inspired is definably hinted at in this ep as well, with the unit 00 quote.
These frikking time reverse episodes are making me violent just watching, 5 episodes of annoyance…

Okay. Fucking give up on this anime it replays the same episode over and over. I liked season 1, but what the fuck is this bullshit.
ok i just watch all 6 eps today and i just wanted my life by watching the same ep 4 times…………omg “i’ll leave the myself of tomaarow to deal with it.” that kind of thinking is really dumb….i feel srry for nagato, 569 years od the same annoying crap and i am alredy mad after only 2
…and now we even have to deal with recursion within the episode
I really think this is daring and brilliant, as Bob said you are meant to feel a bit like Nagato, In fact I said to a friend the other day ‘mate, have you been watching the new haruhi? I feel like yuki nagato’
As weird as it sounds this episode is meant to bore us, all the subtle differences in each episode has led us all to believe that something different will happen at the end of it and really does build an exciting crescendo, can you honestly tell me that after the same four episodes you weren’t on the edge of your seat thinking, ‘fuck I want this to end, KYON DO SOMETHING!’?
And honestly if writers and directors don’t experiment with techniques such as this and draw jailbait in maids outfits as an alternative then the medium will never be taken seriously.
Fuck. This is seriously irritating, but I`ll be honest when I say that the episodes are still exciting, watching to see if anything changes, what Kyon notices, the different camera work, and the endings are always high-tension. I do want to see some progression though.
I think I finally realized why Kyon feels that he owes Nagato. He wanted to buy the mask for her because he knows that this whole repetition crap is all his fault.
I’m just loving this. The subtle differences, the small details from episode to episode. Sure, it’s the same from each one, but MY GOD, the rising action! As the title suggests, Endless Eight. I can understand how it won’t appeal to everyone though, and I’m really beginning to feel for Nagato. To put such an angle on it this time is really a brilliant, clearly underappreciated move for the producers.
Holy crap, Kyon just referenced Evangelion! I swear, the only thing keeping me from flaming this series and sending the entire Team Fortress 2 squad on this season’s creators is Mikuru-chan. I guess somehow watching her over-flowing cuteness just makes me forgive this whole thing.
I like so many else would get great satisfaction from shoving my fott up the producers ass. FFS they’re slaughtering a perfectly good series, goooooooood this is getting to be frustrating to watch, 3 episodes of this reversal crap would be fine but THIS?! WTH where they on when they agreed that this would be an interesting turn of events.. I just want it to end, put it out like a sick dog
lol theres a lot of comments even though many ppl seem to dislike it. And simple as it seems, if you know theres gonna be 2 more dejavu episodes, just don’t watch it and look at the bright side. They have slight changes between the episodes. The subbers must have an easy time subbing the repeated episodes lols.

From production point of view, this kind of repeatition does not reduce costs.
From artistic point of view, this does not add as much depth as the follow arcs.
Fillers that is outside of the original light novel story will bring serious flaming from the otakus. The director had to decide on either to make boring arc, or possibly disastrous fillers. So, IMHO, this is just a clever (or rather dumb) way, to produce high quality fillers.
The point is as Bob and Tim said… We are observers. I personally like what they are doing with the series. the feeling of helplessness and anger of not being able to do anything about it really gets ya good.

Lol even though everyone is getting really pissed about the deja vu episodes (myself included) you have to admit one thing. They are getting you mad enough to make it personal yet everyone will either watch or check every episode to see if finally the arc finishes just cus the first season was good and you like the anime enough not to completely drop it and give up on it

I think they are using the concept of “Cliff Hanger” over and over again to build up so much suspense and keep us watching while they think of new ideas to keep us watching
