The official website for La Corda D’Oro ~primo passo~, the anime series based on KOEI’s female-oriented romance simulation franchise, has confirmed that a tentatively titled La Corda D’Oro ~secondo passo~ anime special will air on spring 2009.

Synopsis: The story continues after the intraschool music competition of the first game and anime series. The budding music student Kahoko meets the brusque boy Etō, the new youthful school board director Akihiko Kira, and the mysterious transfer student Aoi Kaji. (from: ANN)

Marie & Gali

Toei Animation announced a new anime Marie & Gali. It’s a 5 min short anime and will be aired on NHK from March 31st.

Synopsis: Marika moves to a town and finds that all the neighbors are famous scientists. Galileo Galilei is living next door, Isaac Newton is working in a grocery store, and John Ambrose Fleming is doing a part-time job at an electronic store. They teach Marika science comically with jokes, dances and music. For example, “Fleming’s left hand rule” will be taught with a hip-hop song “Love Coil” sung by Fleming himself. (from: MAL)

Basquash!

It’s a sports/sci-fi anime that involves characters playing basketball while riding mecha. This new series premise was created by Thomas Romain and Shoji Kawamori, with the animation produced by Satelight.

Synopsis: The story takes place on the planet Earthdash, where its inhabitants gaze on its moon and the technologically advanced lunar city of Mooneyes with awe. Chi’s Sweet Home (season 2)

Synopsis: Like the first season, the new season adapts Kanata Konami’s manga about a lost kitten named Chi who is found and raised by the Yamada family. After being accidentally separated from her mother and siblings, a kitten is taken in by a human family. Although pets are forbidden in their apartment complex, they become attached to the kitten they have named “Chi” and decide to keep her, hoping they will be able to keep her a secret from the landlady and the other residents. Cross Game

Synopsis: The story revolves around Koh Kitamura, a grade-school boy whose family runs the Kitamura Sports store. He gets to know the four daughters of the family who runs the nearby Tsukishima Batting Center, thanks to the store’s business and his own batting practice at the center. Aside from playful bantering between Koh and the Tsukishima daughters, all is peaceful in their lives until a tragedy strikes their world. Four years later, Koh continues his baseball training, despite not playing a single game since the tragedy. Eden of the East

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit director Kenji Kamiyama is creating and directing an anime called Eden of The East (Higashi no Eden) for a television premiere in April 2009. Chika Umino, the creator of Honey and Clover and March Comes in Like a Lion manga, is creating the original character designs for the anime. Production I.G is producing the animation. The anime will premiere in Fuji TV’s late-night Noitamina timeslot.

Synopsis: The series begins on November 22, 2010 with a missile strike against an uninhabited area of Japan, claiming no victims. This apparent terrorist act is referred to as “Careless Monday” and disregarded by most people. Three months later, in the United States of America, a young Japanese woman named Saki Morimi is visiting Washington, DC as part of her graduation trip. When she gets into trouble, a mysterious Japanese man, who introduces himself as Akira Takizawa, helps her through it. Synopsis: Hayate Ayasaki is an unlucky teenager who worked since childhood to make ends meet due to his parents’ irresponsible behavior. While running away from the debt collectors, he ends up meeting Nagi Sanzenin, a young girl who is the sole heir of the wealthy Sanzen’in estate, and due to a misunderstanding, Nagi ends up falling in love with Hayate. After he rescues Nagi from some kidnappers, she hires Hayate as her new butler.

Mainichi Kaa-san

Mantan Web, the special interest website of the Mainichi Shimbun paper, has revealed that the newspaper’s Mainichi Kāsan gag manga by Rieko Saibara will be animated for broadcast television on spring 2009.

Mainichi Kāsan describes the humorous everyday experiences of Saibara’s own life with her two children. It has been running in the newspaper’s morning edition every week since 2002, and over one million copies of the four compiled volumes have published so far. Saibara received the Japan Media Arts Festival Award in 2004 and the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2005 for her work on Mainichi Kāsan. (from: ANN)

Synopsis: The story centers around Saki Miyanaga, a timid freshman girl who has never enjoyed the Asian tile game of mahjong. Sengoku BASARA

Synopsis: Sengoku Basara takes place during the Sengoku Period, or Warring States Period, during which Japan was split into many minor states battling over power and land. Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica Crimson S

Synopsis: The original story of Polyphonica is set on an alternate world where “Spirits” can exist alongside humans. There are “Dantists” who can play music and communicate with the Spirits, and Tatara Phoron is one such Dantist who is in contact with a spirit named Corticarte Apa Lagranges. The new series will again focus on Corticarte, but it will tie into Ichiro Sakaki and Noboru Kannatsuki’s Shinkyoku Sōkai Polyphonica crimson S light novel adaptation, which are set during the Academy years of the storyline.

T.O Entertainment, Inc. and Ginga-ya already produced an anime series which ran on Japanese television last spring, but the new series is not listed as a continuation or second season of the older anime. (from: ANN)

Tayutama -Kiss on my Deity-

An anime adaptation of Lump of Sugar’s adult PC game of the same title.

Synopsis: The story centers on Yūri Mito, a student at the Sōsei Academy and the only son of the man who runs the Yachimata shrine. At Yachimata, there is a legend of a deity named Tayutayu-sama who protected the area, but this deity and other so-called “Tayutai” have been lost in time. Mito and his friends discover a relic on the school grounds with mysterious patterns on them. An anime adaptation of Sega’s Valkyria Chronicles (Senjō no Valkyria -Gallian Chronicles-) simulation role-playing game for Sony’s PlayStation 3. To be animated by A-1 Pictures, Inc.

Synopsis: The game is set in Europa, a fictional version of Europe, in 1935. Because of its abundance of ragnite ore, which can be refined into a powerful fuel, the neutral nation of Gallia comes under attack from the East European Imperial Alliance, which is itself engaged in a war with the Atlantic Federation.

When Imperial forces attack the small border town of Bruhl, Welkin Gunther, son of late General Belgen Gunther, is forced to fight for his life alongside Town Watch captain Alicia Melchiott. Along with Welkin’s adopted sister Isara, the three escape to Gallia’s capitol and subsequently join the country’s militia forces.
