still tho, Soul Eater is one of the best animes EVER…it’s right there with Fist of the North Star, Yu-Yu Hakusho, & other great animes and it was better than Bleach & Naruto even in some aspects

anyone who sez bullshit like “stop complainin this is anime” yes it is.. but its a shit one at tht. every anime has to follow a plot to be a good anime or “uur why do u watch it then?!?! 0.o” cuz it was good at the start and i hoped for it to have a reasonably explainable ending.

Uber gay ending! this anime had the qualities to be one of the best up there with Naruto, One piece and Bleach. But due to the gay ass credit crunch and japans economy being hit hard we get that kind of a ending, I prefer ep 50 to this this.
(Lets bring back Black star & Death the kid in there own spin off :P)

I loathed how everyone recovered at the same time. That booothered me soo muuch! Atleast one character should’ve died.

Honostly it left way too many questions and should not have gone with a filler ending we never found out about souls past and a bunch of other things were too rushed I was honostly hoping this would end like the Full Metal Alchemist (anime) series ended where maka and soul would sacrafice themselves or some crap like that but no it turned into a huge pile of crap with a smiley face on top ._. we’re all disapointed by this however the manga is still going strong

Wow, you guys must be thinking that the demon god dieing of a punch is kinda wierd…but it makes sense =)

Maka’s demon slayer wavelength was the key to destroying the demon god, so I guess she simply channeled her soul wavelength into her fist kinda like black star and released it directly into his face instead of channeling it through Soul like usual.

I can’t explain those blades popping out of her body, though…
Maybe its from her dad because she can change the shape and manipule her soul just like him when he turns into a sycthe.

Wikipedia says there are 52 episodes so I doubt its over just yet.

What a letdown, though…you would expect teamwork from all 3 instead of just the main character.

Tom: No she didn’t, she turned into a weapon because she is a halfblood between human and weapon (master and deathscythe) The weapon part of her came alive when she suppressed her conscious mind in order to fight the fear.

They even went through the whole Resonance of soul thing between maka and soul-FAILED. The they show something cool with maka having deathscythe abilities-FAILED. Oh but wait, after a long winded speech about courage, the demon god contradicts himself and begins to feel fear? Then maka keeps her poker face on and chases the now schizophrenic demon god and simply punches him in the face? The punch was made out to be ordinary looking. Not glorious light or power, just a simple punch that ended up cracking the guys face, thus destroying the most powerful being on earth?

The ending seems to tie in with the collectivist philosophy that even if you are normal, your best strength is your courage. Furthermore that being normal can be a good thing. I like the ending really, it makes me think that even if you don’t have a photographic memory, rich parents, and in effect grew up in a slum you can still have courage to change your surroundings. Cheesy message, but a good one at that.

Some of you guys seem to be disappointed and confused with the ending. Here is my interpretation and analysis.

The reason why the Demon God was so strong was because his powers fed off of the fear and madness that exist within every person’s soul. That’s why Shinigami sama could never kill him. The best he could do was tie him up and lock him away.

As long there are people in the world, there will always be madness. And as long as there is madness, he will always have the power to come back from even the most outrageous attacks.
So when Maka was able to remove all the fear and madness from her soul, she gained the power to truly defeat the Demon God with her courage.

I guess that nobody else was able to do this due to the fact that most people can’t get within a few feet of the demon god without being consumed by their madness. Maka was probably slightly immune to these effects since she has an anti demon wavelength.

So in a nutshell, Maka’s anti demon wavelength gave her the ability to nullify the demon god’s madness. Her personality is the reason why she was able to nullify the madness she has within. And without any madness, she was able to use her courage to negate the demon god’s very existence since he draws his power from fear (the lack of courage)

The emotional concentration was pretty epic which i liked a lot, but the finishing punch well kinda killed it for me; i wish the scythes coming out of Maka’s body would kill him instead.

The Japanese writers of all good anime care about morals.

However, I would have liked to see the “Maka can use herself as a weapon because she is half deathsythe” idea explored, because that made for some fighting that was even cooler than the vector arrow fights. Honestly, I must say that the fighting in this anime far surpassed that of anything I have seen to date. Shame it has to end like this.

come on Bones, WHAT HAPPENED?!

the writing was cliched to annoyance, a courage punch killed the freaking demon god, excalibur and the the rest of the shibusen people did nothing, but I really got frustrated about how Maka alone killed Asura. The whole series has been about team work, yet they end the series with Maka turning into a weapon (like Yu Yu Hakusho by introducing a great power with no foreshadowing at all with Yusuke randomly being half-demon) and single-handedly beating Asura, with no help from Soul.

this ending really screwed the series as a whole to me. what were Bones thinking?!

Sorry, one last thing, why did this become Evangelion with the Asura freak out with the text “You’re Afraid” stuff?

Agree the ending was cheezy-campy. But it isn’t like that hasn’t happened before in anime in-general. The good series/band ending … So aside from that….it was pretty good series. Maybe they’ll do s special OVA or something…that can kinda correct it, or at least patch over that ending.

Man. You tards are tards. Asura is the demon god of Insanity! You don’t defeat him with blades and energy cannons etc. His insanity allows him to ignore all of that. Maka’s punch charged with courage was that was needed. She turned his insanity against him. He esstentially destroyed himself from within because he BELIEVED her punch had something in it. Didn’t you get all those flash cuts inbetween the dialogue? He was already starting to destroy himself.

He could ignore her anti-demon waves because he believed they wouldn’t effect him. “Are you sure I’m a demon? Is my madness inpurity?” He doesn’t believe it, so she can’t destroy him that way.

Simple, but perhaps too intellectual for you slice and dice rejects. Go watch your Power Rangers, maybe you can handle that mental challenge.

I understand where some of u guys are coming from when u say that the demon god is insanity itself and weapons wont work on him. I understand that the only way to beat “insanity” is not with weapons but an opposite emotion such as “courage”, in which maka’s courage was stronger that the demon god’s insanity.
But…wasnt the whole shitten point of this show was to work together as a team. 30+ episodes was about everyone getting stronger as a team to overcome evil. But nooooooo…SINGLE-HANDEDLY (literally)…maka saves the day without teamwork…even without her own partner, soul. On top of that…it was LAAAAAME!! This ending overthrew the main point of what was being shown to us…how to work as a team with your partner(weapon).

Maka waking up as a death scyth was sweet and would of been better, but thank god for the manga which just pisses all over this.

This anime was way too long should of only been like 30 episodes. Not a waste of 52 weeks due to having good ones but this anime defiantly isnt one of the best its got to be at least a 7-8 out of 10.

After watching it with the subs, it was pretty amazing. True it wasn’t what i was expecting but still it’s good. Clearly some people will love the ending and others won’t.

About the team work concept: If you can remember back to the last episode they we’re using team work. But when the black blood took over soul, they had to throw that out the window.

I give the whole series a 9/10. It would be a 10/10 if it wasn’t for the plot holes, but that can be fix with a second season

Well just as cerberus said

“The reason why the Demon God was so strong was because his powers fed off of the fear and madness that exist within every person’s soul. That’s why Shinigami sama could never kill him. The best he could do was tie him up and lock him away.

As long there are people in the world, there will always be madness. And as long as there is madness, he will always have the power to come back from even the most outrageous attacks.
So when Maka was able to remove all the fear and madness from her soul, she gained the power to truly defeat the Demon God with her courage.

I guess that nobody else was able to do this due to the fact that most people can’t get within a few feet of the demon god without being consumed by their madness. Maka was probably slightly immune to these effects since she has an anti demon wavelength.

So in a nutshell, Maka’s anti demon wavelength gave her the ability to nullify the demon god’s madness. Her personality is the reason why she was able to nullify the madness she has within. And without any madness, she was able to use her courage to negate the demon god’s very existence since he draws his power from fear (the lack of courage)”

But yes the ending could have been better, and had a sick ass ending move. But I believe that since the Demon God was madness himself and seeing Maka have no fear made him weak.

also his soul was destroyed hence why all the souls he ate were free and his was no where to be found.

That ending.. Not exactly beautiful as in amazing but beautiful as in “The episode disappointed but reading these comments made me laugh.” think of it like the Sopranos ending. The punch had courage.. thank god for that much, I’m not sure that anyone without courage would be fighting someone so “powerful” but.. whatever. Also, to clear things up for some of you.. courage does not trump madness, sanity does.

If you actually loved Soul Eater and wouldn’t mind reading the manga to see what actually happens instead of a rushed ending that branched off from the actual plot, go for it.

For once, I thought it was nice how the stereotypical flashy amazing anime finisher was used. No big bang, no setsu hadoken, no omega resengan, no effin bankai. The thought behind it was courage, something every person has in them. Something that doesn’t have to be represented with some final flash bullshit. i also agree with DegenerateDemon. there wasn’t anything wrong with the ending. not everything can be ended by a big flashy attack. the producers showed they more sophisticated then that. i also found it funny when the kishin started tweakin’ out, and THE SKY IS BLUE MOTHERFUCKER^. also that part when the kishin shot kid with his finger was hilariously anticlimactic. it was like HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-poke. kinda like what would happen in real life if he did that

i personally liked it, then again i haven’t read the manga, so idk about that. but Soul Eater pwns most animes i’ve ever seen.

and i’m pretty sure once Japan’s economy stabalizes, they’re making a second season. because

1) Maka still want’s to make Soul into a death scythe, right? they’re gonna have to show us whether she does or doesn’t.

Geez most of you piss me off. The kishin was not beaten by Maka’s “fist of courage.” He was beaten by courage period. He was able to stay in a ultimately impossible stage of demon because of the madness that engulfed his very being. He thought he knew what was what. That madness was madness and fear was fear. That no feeling could overwhelm another. Maka taught him otherwise and he became afraid. His fear overwhelmed him and his form became unstable technically Maka didn’t really even have to hit him.

To people who watched the whole series, you should already know by now that this anime is filled with surprises because the people who made it wanted it to be somewhat unique and different from other animes. IN this effort, they made a totally unexpected ending. Sure, it makes SOME little bit of sense once you think that Maka channeled her anti-demon wavelength and focused it on one punch to the face and with it, defeated the Demon God. But still, if you check back at 5:28 of this episode. Ashura clearly states that anti-demon wavelength and Demon Hunter will not work on him because he is not a demon. So this means that we must accept the fact, no matter how illogical it is, that Ashura the Demon God was defeated by a fist full of courage to the face. This anime is good and very funny. But the effort put into making it seems to have gradually faded as the series neared its final episode. And here we see the result: an ending with little effort. Well, if I am wrong and they put a lot of effort into it, then is that all what their effort can give? I love this anime but the ending was not lame, it was SAD. Very very saaad! It could have been really better. I’m starting to feel like poor Asura. Going mad near the end because he doesn’t get Maka’s courage.

Alright, I have to admit that it wasn’t best ending out there. Sure, its no Death Note-like ending that was epic, but it still deserves kudos for originality. This entire anime does. I was seriously like “Wtf? Fawwllcooon pawnch?” when I saw how she defeated the Kishin.

All in all, I really liked this anime. I hope they pull a Vampire Knight and make a second series.

Where I get the punch being a killing blow, is that he was afraid of something he didn’t understand. Since he was feeling fear, he hadn’t abandoned all his emotions to insanity. Thus, he was no longer an immortal god, and was able to be defeated due to his fear, even if it was a simple punch he feared what would happen.

Then again, an ending that can be interpreted many different ways is the best way to end a series. You need to realize that a story shouldn’t tell you everything that happens, the best part about a story is the imagination that you come up with once it ends.

I really didn’t read all the posts but what i came at the end was yes the end was both Bad @$$ and at the same time Completly lame but if you think about it it makes sence and is less lame if you think about the fact that Asura wasn’t a Demon so he couldn’t be killed the same way as others.. what he was was a Manifestation of pretty much all the Maddness in the world. and the only way to Combat Emotion is Emotion Aka Courage>Madness so in away Asura was a Nightmare and was beaten the same way we beat a nightmare.. braving it out and fighting back even if we fear it’d be pointless.

It’s not like the whole series was a disaster. just try to look at it as a whole and not based soly on the ending. besides, the manga goes on and it’s different. the ending was so simple yet so satisfying. maka defeating the kishin with a punch lol. most of u guys r disappointed but to put it simple, Maka’s anti demon power can’t work on a being of madness(the kishin) because he is not demonic. madness resides in every1 and so does courage. the kishin couldnt grasp Maka’s confidence when she was completely weak to him. he went into confusion and self destruction. but just a madness, courage resides in every1 and is born from fear. the courageous punch pretty much set off the bomb the kishin turned turned into (metaphorically).
