I don’t know the slightest bit about mahjong but i still love the anime xD
So true… You can love this anime without knowing what the hell they’re doing and still feel climaxed just because you know the main character can’t win with this hand… but pulls something off that is “apparently” impossible (though we have no clue wtf is going on) and still feel like it’s amazingly awesome….
agreed it makes me happy inside but i dont understand one bit

I am with you guys, might ot fully understand the game but it is an interesting show. Saki is on a roll, and I love how she is so confident, like “Yes I am going to win and go to nationals with my team”
Interestingly enough, Mahjong is a fairly simple game. To win, most of the hands include 4 triples or in-a-rows, and a pair. Koromo wins by drawing the last tile, which increases the points gained, while Saki wins by Kong, a four-of-a-kind. If you do a Kong, you can draw another tile, and basically that tile finishes her hand (Either she already has 4 triples/in-a-rows and have one tile remaining for pair, or she has 3 triples/in-a-rows, have a pair, and waiting for final tile to finish the last triple/in-a-row), and increases the points that way.
Of course, there are other ways to win, such as having 7 pairs or one of each kind.
Saki is going to finish this with the most awesome hand ever and then will go off and do yuri things with Nodoka! :p
