New Gundam Series to Be Revealed

A new, as yet unnamed series to mark the 30th anniversary of the Gundam robot franchise will be reportedly announced in the April issue of Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Gundam Ace manga magazine on February 26. The series will feature the RX-78-7 mobile suit — one of the last mecha in the RX-78 line, and a mecha that has appeared in Gundam reference material in the past but not as a main mecha in a series. (The model number of the main mecha of the first Gundam series is RX-78-2.) Veteran designer Hajime Katoki (Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory, Mobile Suit Victory Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO: The Hidden One Year War) designed the new mecha.
Tatsuya Suzuki (Gaogaigar, The Legend of Reyon, Aniyome wa Ijippari) designed the new characters. The story will star Hugues Couraud, a 32-year-old officer in command of the Earth Federation’s Phantom Sweep Team. The special operations unit is ordered to hunt down the remnants of the losing Zeon forces after the end of the One Year War of the first Gundam series. When he was young, he once had his entire unit wiped out.
The other main character from the Phantom Sweep Team is a 24-year-old woman named Sherry Allison. She was a test pilot for prototype units, but she has been assigned to the special operations team to fill its ranks. On the opposing Zeon side is Eric Blanke, a 20-year-old male officer born to a prominent family in the Principality of Zeon. He is leading the counteroffensive unit named Invincible Knights to avenge the Zeons’ loss to the Earth Federation.
The story is set in 0081 of the Universal Calendar, one year after end of the One Year War. While peace and order are being restored to the world, small-scale battles still crop up here and there due to Zeon remnants continuing to offer resistance. A veteran Earth Federation officer assigned to mopping up the remaining Zeon forces, and a young officer executing a top secret operation to revive the Zeons, cross paths on this new battlefield.

Yay!!! i have nothing against 00, but i think that the plot is very similar to code geass. In the sense that they are both trying to get the world to be their enemy for the better good. Code Geass had a very good ending to round up the story, i just wonder if this gundam series can match that. As well as the popularity of the last 3 series. I also hope that the next one will be unique and re-animate the gundam franchise, cause to me the plot is getting ‘predictable’.

have never seen a gundam series that I didn’t like the past few have been great and I expect the same out of this one. 00 gundam is going to end soon and that had me down, but now there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
RX-78-2 looks similiar to freedom gundam. the plot looks weird to mie. but still looking forward to it. hahhaha..
Interesting, I felt 00 never really lived up to its potential, (especially considering all the AC concepts they stole) but this new one looks like it could be promising.
A revenant of oldschool gundam will be refreshing.
00 was very very disappointing, especially for a series so very common with Gundam Wing. But it’s nice to see Bandai return to the original Universal Century. I hope this series brings back the greatness of Gundams.

Honestly just jumping from era to era is a wrong choice they should just make a sequel out of 00 just like gundam seed(even though most of us knew that gundam seed destiny was a failure squeal) Anyway where is our gundam seed movie they promised us.

(IMO)you have got to be kidding me… SEED was one of th most retarded gundam series out there, let alone SEED destiny. The characters were so superficial compared to the other series – tell me, does a guy like kira exist? Even the title of ultimate coordinator doesn’t really justify that.
Oh, and just to let you know, most events in SEED were just rehashed versions of the original series.
And UC deinitely does not suck, it at least strives to make it’s characters more human and realistic.
the first season of 00 was good. season 2 has been disappointing but nothing can suck as bad compared to seed destiny and g-gundam.

G gundam was not bad, the fights were epic! (except the last one that was kinda cheezy). I’ve watched zeta and some of double zeta and the original. The only reason why some of you say the old one sucks are because you couldn’t be bothered to watch the older graphics! Come on, it was made in 80′s so you should not have expected so much on graphics. I think all the gundam series are pretty good (however I have not bothered to watch Turn A and with seed I got bored.
I think Bandai tried to add more excitement towards the plot when they made the AC (Gundam W) and 00. Wing had more political meaning in its plot; 00 is in a way similar to Full Metal Panic and yet has Seed’s love plot. Oh well i’m expecting the new one to be more exciting like ‘sensational’ but for mech design, my fav are still the Crossbone and Unicorn, both from UC; too bad Bandai dun make them into animes TT.TT only mangas Zzzz *damn* >_<

I’ve seen all the Gundam Series, read all of the mangas and even know a few people in the business of making real mech warriors (look up mechanized propulsion systems on the web) aside from digressing on that point, you need to remember these series are only fantasy, so what if they make another Gundam series that goes back to Universal Century? IMHO, it means that Bandai still cares to make more of this series. Imagine if they pull the plug on this franchise, then there’s nothing to bitch about except not seeing a new series every couple of months. One note I have, what’s the problem with being gay and why would it be a big deal that a main character is homosexual anyways? Would this then threaten your masculinity and therefore make you not want to watch a series? I can never understand some people.
yea..new series its fun to watch all of these series of gundam.. its remind us pple. economy and global info. such like a war for profit. i love this gundam because you can learn something and critizise them on the world today.

Gundam SEED is what made me like gundam in the first place. I haven’t watched the older ones cause the graphics suck balls. 00 was good in the begining but I think they ran out of creative ideas. if it stays in the pace that they going now,soon they will make an undefetable Gundam. still I give 00 a thumbs up =)
(the sniper guy could just snipe the enemies from space, 00gundam can cut large ships in half with his over powered sword, they can easily destroy buildings. they whould get the world to hate them and win the war witch is what I think they want. the end.)
no offence to you gundam 00 fans but it just cant compare to Turn A gundam or the first gundam seed and yea gundam is getting way to predictable if i was writing the plot i would change a lot of things like i would make the main character go through a lot of psychological shit like say he has a girlfriend id kill her off in like three episodes and then the next couple episodes following i would make it so every time the main character stepped into a gundam he would freeze up and see her in his head and shed tourment him saying why why couldnt you protect me and then to finish his psychological shit the next episode he would go completly berserk and kill 100′s of enimies and thousands of innocents and then the main character would role out of the gundam puke and then get back to his normal gundameeee days

Ok….Hands Down the best Gundam series wad the 8th MS Team. Definitely by far it was the best. Gundam Wing Was awesome, Gundam Seed and 00 i lost interest in after only a few episodes, and i found myself trolling to check out Turn A which i never got a chance to finish (it was nerfed on the sites that did have it) But it held my interest. Ad for the graphics, Anyone who wants to compare the series from the 80s to the ones now, is just a complete retard, you cant have a solid base judgment like that there’s a huge gap in time, But if they were to remake the older series, might be time consuming, but remake them all and then market them in a special package that would be worth buying. With that said…

will definitely miss gundam 00 + 00 raiser when theyre in trans am mode…..its was uber pwnage….the GN drive was the unique thing in this series so i suppose they wont be using it in the new series though it is the best engine drive the creators have come up with so far….

Seems very interesting. It’ll be nice to have yet another Gundam series to watch now that 00 is coming to an end [so sad... I'm really enjoying it week after week].
Unlike people seem to so far [I've only read half the comments or so at the moment], I’m not going to pick a side of Gundam and trash the other. I am an all around fan and don’t mind either type. The old Gundam series were very good, but I also enjoy the newer ones like Wing [though getting to be old], SEED, Destiny, and ESPECIALLY 00 [my most favourite of all so far].
I’m definatly going to watch this when it comes out, or a little afterwards if I don’t spot it until then. Looking forward to it.
Like a previous post I read, I also got to watch Gundam because of Seed. I personally think that 00 could have been a little better to captivate my interest. However, I’m glad to have seen most of the episodes with only few remaining so far. I could be wrong but I believe that the GN Drive gimmick is the best idea to date. Too bad they didn’t get more of fan support. I hope this new series will come out with new technology as well, which would promote a progression in the Gundam franchise.
Gundam 00 is the only series done in Hi-Def. Could that be why there is so much confusion to chose it as the best so far? Could Sunrise have run into financial trouble before they promoted it? Or could it have been a lack of support staff

Well, i say that both x and wing series shows what is the real purpose of gundams and the reason for its existence but unlike the seed and 00 series they showed awesome weaponry, set of characters and supreme mobility making it the best series created.

people thats not the rx-78-7 gundam… thats jus a custom nu gundam. And the reason 00 is so much like Wing is because Sunrise tried to remake the Wing series for the modern audience( just like seed and seed destiny are the remakes of gundam and z gundam)
