So it looks like we can revive the discussion about whether Lelouch is dead or alive. According to a graphic on the mobile phone site for Code Geass, a new Geass project has been green-lit. Somehow, I’m not too shocked that this is happening, and really it was only a matter of time before Sunrise came back to this successful franchise. Two of the possibilities that came to mind are that it could be a direct sequel to R2, or it could be a completely different take, like Mai-Otome was to Mai-HiME. Astute observers will note that this announcement coincides with Lelouch’s birthday. There’s no word yet either whether it’ll be an OVA or full series or what, but apparently there’ll be more news in the new year.

Very Interesting… Though I am a little disappointed.Maybe I was expecting something ground breaking.

I think I’m excited no matter which story it follows. Technically the anime is a different story than the manga so I won’t be disappointed unless they make a new story and it sucks.

infact, sorry for the double post but this needs to be said..
in my oppinion, if i were to list the characters that i was genuinly interested in seeing more of out of the Code Geass ones… CC is pretty damn low on my list…and a prequel was not what the doctor ordered.
By dodging the question of what happened after (what happened to the main characters after the events in R2 + whether lelouch managed a seemingly impossible revival) i think the writers have made a horrible mistake.
Simply put i dont think the audience are going to be interested in what will effectively be a completely new cast.
To be honest i was never expecting a lelouch revival even though they could have easily brought in a couple new characters and gave hints throught the new series but inevitably never give a conclusive answer. I mean hell… if you can think of some crazy way to bring him back you may as well bring back euphie too.. i mean we pretty much watched both of them die so what would the difference be? Hell i spose charles didnt really “die” either…. any prehaps im digressing..
What dissapoints me the most is the first picture.. as if they had made it out like it was going to be a continuation… hopes up for nothing i guess.. i probably wont be watching this.

one word, “yes”, but i agree with lordhazanko. i really wanted another sequel and while a prequel has potential, the only returning character is a minor character(in my opinion) and the large cast is one of the things that made Code Geass great. plus when they said “edo period” it really makes me picture CC in like a Gintama setting

not sure this is right but when i watched the series a while ago i thought it was possible that lelouch could’ve gotten the immortality mark like cc and faked the death that way because if memory serves its possible to get them from another which if they added that in without us knowing he could b alive not sure ths idea would work so please correct me if im wrong here

i doubt this is a prequel. it says “rebirth” so it will be a whole new story, and considering there are 4+ mangas of code geass that have different stories i wouldnt doubt this is going to be something totally new

Anyway, to be honest I don’t think this will live up to the original. I don’t see why people are going crazy. There will be no Lelouch, so that means it’s not going to be a battle of wits; which is what made CG what it was. Well, at least once it turns out to be a flop, we’ll know that CG is done for good.

Damn, they are stepping away from Big fighting robots since I guess they have used every genius tactical move they can think of. Also, Lelouch is alive but they don’t want to continue his story as it would make what he did seem shallow.
This is just a rebirth of the series, you have the same powers and genius except in a new period. I think they will now have a character who perform genius tactis in a period with only swords and simple weapons. He will create ambushes and etc… The mechanical arm sounds interesting.

Ibet you this is gonna be before lelouch started the black knites or during lelouch as emporer. its obvious that it will have another 25 episodes (hopefully more if it is a season that is). This is gonna be a side story but if c.c. is in it, it would have to be after lelouch was killed in the second season. plus its really obvious that the mysterious man will have or gain a power.

There isn’t going to be a f*cking Lelouch, or Kallen, or Suzaku; so get over the old characters already and stop hoping they’ll make some sort of appearance.

I loved the first two seasons, but this risks being horrible.
If lelouch reappear it will be the lamest thing to have ever happened.
It will also make the ending of the 2nd season totally lame, making the series worse overall, possibly making only the first season be truly good, instead of now when both the first and 2nd seasons are good.

People keep saying “watch” and they keep comparing it to the first 2 seasons…this is a Manga,so its not even an anime, and is probably not going to be one if they do the same as the other mangas. However, I am intrigued to how this new project will unfold.
Kinda dissapointed it will be a manga, though there is always the possibility of a new anime in the works too.
So long as Lelouch isn’t still alive (that would wreck the fuck out of the series for me), it should be good. A new anime, that is.
I get the feeling this manga will focus on CC, seeing the time period it’s set in. probably so that we can get more of a look at her in her past life. I probably won’t end up reading it since I don’t read manga, but oh well. Wikipedia can give me the run down of what happens =P

the one bad thing about it in my eyes it that it is going to be a manga and not an anime, ive read the geass manga and seen the series and the anime is MILES better something about the whoel tactics just works better in anime, it’ll still be interesting though edo period, tactics on an old battlefield not a mecha based futuristic one.

Wait this manga was supposed to already be out in japan, i read a preveiw of it before though i cant recall where, its got a similar plot to CG but its set in a samurai era and all the Knightmares are magic suits of armor and the black knights are an anti govenrment group……anyways so yeah is it beig made into an anime or is this just some kind of announcement for the manga?

i have thought of so many things that could have happened, but the one thing that always stood out was the fact that Lelouch’s father was so mad that he should have done something to Lelouch to punish him from killing him….
such as giving Lelouch his code and making him live forever with his hatred of himself and his wishing to die.
this brings an ideal opportunity for another season, maybe even two if were lucky and the creaters thought of this too
