Lock on broke the snipers taboo so he had to die(never get into close range on your own choice) never breck the taboo! but I can say I understand why they killed him off well besides brecking the god dam taboo it opens up endless possablitys for charter deveopment and leaveings other possablitys for lets say new gundam chassiey bc his kinda got messed up
