Im not a fan of Ranka now…. not because the vajra incident (though she should know what it means to have one of those around, ppl wont accept it) im just pissed that she thru a wrench in that dumbass alto’s gears which had sheryls name on it. Now if the anime follows the same format of a dozen other animes hes going to realize “loves” her and he can’t b without her and poor sheryl just got kicked to the curb… pisses me off just thinking about it.

I personally have enjoyed this series more with every episode. I was taken aback by the untimely passing of Michael however, the spontaniety of the event is a good generator for any series. You don’t begin to hang on the edge of your seat until you begin to realize there are not walls to constrain what could or couldn’t happen. When predictability fails, people pay attention.
As far as Ranka’s defection is concerned, it fits. From beginning to end, Ranka has been the heart of this series. Beyond everyone else, Ranka cares. and metaphorical to the essence and nature of this series, who better to love their enemy that she who has lost the most? No one understands the Vajra. Yet everyone sees their aggression and takes them for evil without fully understanding them. When tragedy happens, everyone wants to blame someone and they want to maintain that blame unconditionally- those who are to blame are unforgivable. They cannot be forgiven no matter what. - This theme and attitude is very real. And certainly, in war there will always be that nurtured hatred for those who have stolen what we love most, but also, that is what fuels war and keeps war going. The blaitant desire to hate and blame others for your loss is both natural and self destructive.
for example, Alto blames the Vajra for killing michael, but in fact, the Vajra who did kill Michael was in turn killed by Michael. Ranka points out this interesting point by claiming Ai-kun has not killed like the other Vajra have. and in effect, Ai-kun is innocent of all the crimes that the other Vajra have committed. But Alto refuses to see that there are differences, that Vajra can love; he refuses to see beyond his own prejudice.
What a wonderful microcosm of our own society! Deculture! Unlearn what society teaches us is the only way. Look to your heart. This is what Ranka represents. She is a very interesting character and still is. She may very well be the nexus that unites the two races. In order to find peace, one must first learn to forgive. So yes, I enjoy this series very much. I am interested to see how it develops further.

Maybe Sheryl is more sexier and confessed her love to alto way earlier, i would prefer alto to choose ranka.

In Rankas “battle-scenes”, where the vajra were killed with using her song, sie feels pain for every vajra died.
I understand her fear about those fights.
She dont want to see many humans and vajra die in front of her eyes, especially with herself als ultimate weapon.
Only Brera seems to understand her true fealings.
He knows more about her and her past than he had told her yet.
He would do anything for Ranka.
@Rankas song: The effect of the song is based on Rankas feelings.
If she is angry, the Vajra attack more agressive.
As she sang in love for Alto, the Vajra stopped their attack and movement.
Without Alto seeing more in Ranka as a friend, her Song wont have an efect to the Vajra.
Alto likes Sheryl more than Ranka, so she hasnt anything to fight for anymore.
Frontier now cant give Ranka more than the permanent presence of Death, Hate and unrespondet Love.
So why she shouldnt run and search for her fate?
Her Future has already been decided by the authors of the anime.
