this anime must be one of the far most suckiest I have ever taken a look on IMO.
I like this anime although some of that has to do with Macross Plus. The dog fights especially remind me of isamu. I think the story is good enough to propel the the show… it aint the greatest story but still good. btw im a sherylXalto fan (althought alto is your typical anime male lead, sheryl know how to handle him the best)
Poor Ranka… I hope Brena Or whatever his name is, Happens to be only a child hood friend and not her real blood brother. Because, They should just let Alto be with Sheryl, Which I Doubt cause Obviously Alto has something for Ranka just as well as he has for Sheryl. He likes both of them. But I Think Ranka should go with her fuckin hawt bodyguard… n.n I mean, Hes hot..And Strong, Obviously he cares for Ranka deeply and he like made her blush 2 times or more through out this ep. Dunno what he was saying but probably something mature and smart. .>; He did that arrow through the heart thing on purpose, then when Ranka goes to tell him her feelings, Hes right there flirting his ass off with Sheryl. =-= Alto’s the real ass here. Sheryl is just desperate. And Ranka is just confused. Lol.. o.o When Ranka sees Alto with Sheryl, Notice how the song goes ” Who Are you Going to Kiss… ” ” Me , ” And Then it shows Ranka shocked. Then, Sheryl turns around and the song plays ” Or That Other girl. ” ;_: So Sad…! D: I Think Ranka might be the one that ends with Alto… I Think, And I Dont really, Yet Kinda Hope. I just want her to be happy, Either with Alto or even her Body Guard. n.n;
I hate these stupid gay love triangles. Whats happened to anime these days? Almost every one of them has something crappy like this. In the end I’ll probably go back to watching normal tv.
What’s up with Brera being this super bad ass cyber warrior that can only play one song on that harmonica? Dude needs to update his internal itunes collection or something.
P.S. As for who Alto is going to wind up with, he seems to be like the Macross Mary Poppins in that he spends more time with whichever girl needs him most, not wants him most. When Sheryl was flying high, he was all about Ranka-chan, but as soon as Sheryl’s world took a nosedive he starts showing her more attention.

The only thing I really hate about these typical anime male leads is that even though he like both of them they are the ones doing all the work/affection like hes incapable of expressing any kind loving emotion to either of them (i dont find that cool at all) saving ppl on his fighter doesnt count as expressed love… thats what hes good at so it doesnt count plus he would save anyone whos in trouble.

So is this just an anime thing, or are all Japanese men emotionally constipated? Not just Alto, look at Ozma… he obviously loves Cathy but won’t be with her for some retarded reason. It’s implied that he broke up with her so he could focus on raising Ranka, but what the hell is that about? Single parents can’t date in Japan or something? Drama for drama’s sake is just lazy and retarded on the writers part.
Yup, the writing has much to be desired. They have to realize that most of the fans of Macross are now adults, and therefore have a somewhat better understanding of relationships. So they need to stop this adolescent crap.

After watching this ep, I gotta say that Ranka, Alto and Sheryl collectively have the *worst* timing in the history of anime. They make running into/just missing each other at the exact wrong moment a freaking art form.

These roles are just typical Japaneses characters…if you have ever watched any sort of Japaneses drama….especially samurai ones you would be familiar with this notion of detached male lead role in a love triangle in film/TV…a good example of this is the samurai trilogy by Hiroshi Inagaki…The first movie was made in 1954…so nothing new….They are good films by the way…a must see in my book….

I’m a little concerned about the plot outline for two upcoming eps:
“In the on-going war against the Vajra, people lose their loved ones and their hatred grows,” and
“The Frontier populance’s hatred of the Vajra is growing by leaps and bounds, and even Alto and Luca cannot control their own hate. Moreover, now armed with new prototype weapons, Alto and Luca consider using them to utterly exterminate all Vajra.”
So people are going to start dying, and it’s going to piss off Alto and Luca, who are now packing some serious heat. Could the death that has them so upset explain why it’s “Luca and Alto,” and not “Luca Michael and Alto?” Poor Klan Klan…
ppl should stop crying about all the stuff they hate and go watch something else if they dont like it i think it a pretty good anime tho the triangale thing is a bit annoying cant wait for the next ep:D

Sheryl and Ranka are both 16. Alto Saotome is 17. Also What the hell is wrong with this anime. I don’t think i’ve ever seen any of the pilots recognized for fighting, except for sheryl’s on song she dedicated for them in one of the first few eps, and that was really for Alto. Everyone’s watching a concert or something. It’s like the guys dying for them are nowhere near as important as some chick with a microphone. I’m not trying to disrespect the entertainers during war. Woman have supported soldiers this way before, especially when they were frowned upon for wanting to join the army. it’s just that a lot of realism is lost to the program for this. The war feels hollow because of this. I mean how many nameless characters have even mentiond it. Their always talking about sheryl or ranka. It make the show seem more about singing than war.
