wtf is with the new beginning, is macross f a shoujo anime? also ozma durr– should i go to the hospital after being severely wounded or take the night off and bleed to death at a concert instead? durrrrrr. and lmao at sheryl-chan, no dialogue at all in this ep and on screen for the last 10 seconds. i’m glad she found a job at the hospital pushing carts around now that no one cares about her anymore lol!!

What the hell is up with Macross writers killing off the coolest characters anyway? I understand why Folkker needed to die in the original, but why Ozma? At least let the guy hook up with the mayors daughter one last time before making him bleed to death at an effing concert.
Now Ranka is going to be all whiney and mopey, and the three stooges are going to be all pissed off and angsty for the next few eps. Glass will probably lock herself in her room for half the ep, then spend the other half yelling at her dipshit lover after she uncovers his ties to the Vajra etc etc.
And what the heck is up with all this talk about supply problems all of a sudden? Macross 7 got the tar kicked out of it how many times, yet it kept chugging along without reducing the populace to Soilent Green rations. Now 20 years later just one island takes a serious hit and the administration starts freaking out. God I hate lazy writing.
this series stayed true from the original macross. Very close should i say. This goes to characters and the essence of the series. its a great revival.
We already have an original Macross, so hows bout some originality instead of rampant necrophilia masquerading as Homage?

not just fokker. its the minmei character as ranka( young, working in the chinese restaurant, joining the pageant,etc), the ikaru(rick hunter) character who accidentally piloted a valkryie, fokkers affair with someone at the bridge, the SDF, the new macross ship, etc. so far, all successors are crap. The series after Macross w/c starred dana sterling, daughter of max sterling, is crap. The invids are ok but the plot is so dull. At least, the frontier series has a certain nostalgia to it. Esp for those who watched the original series when it first came out. So to say, true to the original. There is continuity. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be a macross at all. It even has the gay singing crap. GEEZ!!!
I beg to differ. Now Macross Plus, that had originality. Yes yes it had the love triangle, the singing etc which are both staples of Macross, but it was the first Macross to be serious and shed the cheese. The main thing I like about Frontier is its use of sweeping visuals, much like Plus did. Other then that, the story is a retread and getting more boring with every ep.
Even the subbers are apparently losing interest, as it’s been what 5 days now since the raw came out? They had the subbed out within a day or two for the first ten eps, but have been taking longer and longer since.
i think Klan’s popularity is mainly due to the fact that she has boobs the size of a small truck. lol

I have always enjoyed the Macross saga. To me Macross has always represented more than transforming valkyries and intergalactic battles over the fate of mankind(albiet, those ar nice). First and foremost, Macross has always been about breaking barriers. Since the very beginning, we have such memorable moments like the wedding of a human and a Zentradi (or Maltrandi). And the interracial relationship between Roy Fokker and Claudia. And the interracial brotherhood between Roy and Rick (Ikaru) Hunter. and finaly the aliance of Zentradi and Human civilizations. After this epic series, we’ve seen spin offs like Macross 7, and Macross Zero and Plus, etc. In every one of these series, to one extent or another, we see barriers being broken and unions being made in the end of all things.
I think their idea of using war as a platform for bringing divergent societies or cultures together is a good one; it is resonant of our own history. If you look at american history in general, we (in general) live in a glass jar where we do not notice the lives of cultures of people outside out own network until there is some war that forces us to recognize there is a society outside of our own. and even then, we respond with revenge or violence, or military means. My point isn’t whether or not this is justifiable. My point is, Macross has taken the reigns of this cultural norm and flipped it around. They use war as a platform to bring about an eventual peace or attempt to understand the other side.
I believe the point of macross is about breaking through our own cardboard boxes and realizing there are worlds and people out there who, as much as they are different, are very similar to us. It’s no surprise to me why one of the common phrases in Frontier is “Deculture”. To me that stands out as a means of saying, unlearn your biases and see the world in more than just black and white. see it in all it’s hues and colors and find the beauty therein.
Thus I feel Macross Frontier is a wonderful compliment to a great series. That’s my opinion.

the original macross is actually good for its time and you can either find it as robotech or just macross so search it and the anime fans, i think that the macross is NOT a boot leg of Code Geass and they are both great shows that should be loved for its entertainment, artwork, and charecters and there are also a bunch of other great anime
