    I have seen quite a few other anime like this (I mean with this kind of ending), and I think that perhaps Gantz vanishing in the end meant that none of it ever happened. If you noticed, the only people who got involved were people who were connected to Kei in some way or another, or connected through Kei. I think that perhaps Kei may have died in the end, but his sacrifice prevented all of those others from dying.
    Or inversely, perhaps he lived through Gantz’s challenges and everyone connected with those challenges were restored in the end. To me, it seems like for some reason this whole thing was one big challenge for Kei.

    I don’t conclude Genisay is wrong, but here is my opinion: Gantz probably choses a person for a particulair reason for his ‘game’, this time it was Kei, who got killed while helping a person… Since there were many others on the metro station that DIDN’T help, Gantz sended them one by one into his ‘game’, maybe to help Kei because they didn’t help him when he needed help the most… if you look at the ending of this episode: All the people on the metro station were the people who were send into Gantz’ ‘game’, the people who didn’t help Kei ( see the part where the last women dies, she says that this time he has to survive, because he couldn’t save himself. Probably Kei didn’t die, because he’s a guy who doesn’t die that easily… especially after what has happend to him. I have no idea what happend with the other people who died in the ‘game’, but my guess is they really just died. but Gantz dissappearing can also mean none of it all has happend, it could be a dream of Kei, wanting to be a hero. Like Genisay says, it could all be a challenge for Kei, but I don’t really think so… I think the anime was just a dream from Kei and all of them are still alive, but… who knows, they could all be dead too funny ending.

    And as far as the people who were in the game before Kei; if this thing repeats itself till someone wins; then the other people were probably connected to the first dark haired fellow in the begining. But that guy was not out to help others; he cared only for himself; so in the end, he failed. (can’t remember his name)

    Also, did anyone notice that Kei may have gotten a hundred points by the end? So maybe he managed to win the game.

    this anime started out good but got fucking retarded around 15…they could have did a way better job if they kept the 3 main characters alive and made it more of a love story…maybe killing the other guy off at the last episode.

    yea i agree with every they messed up the story line after the budda temple thingy…
    i started reading the manga but none of the sites i go to have any chapter past 269 in english and i dont know jappaneese. can someone tell me a site with the rest of the manga, i mangavolume doesnt work on my computer and mangafla,e and mangaotaku doesnt have it that far in english.

    ummm go to bleachexile.com and go to like the top left corner where it shows recent chapters click one of them and it bring u to the manga thne scroll on the mangas and find gantz. read the manga. this is just the end of the anime prob because it didnt do well so they ended it. after the budda temple it gets more intense and people start to not die like everyone one mission. the people who get into gantz are stronger and cooler. and u will see what is with the 100 point thing.. i will not spoil anything because the manga is cool. and read it and it is still going on the manga has not ended and thats the cool part. just watch out for all the nudity in the manga its like wierd nudity but i dont really care so READ THE MANGA IF u were not statified with the ending of the anime

    That ending song is most likely about when…Kotou…yea..thats his name…kissed big tits xD ….and also…after the credits…that train goes through….yet..Kei’s body isnt there….maybe he isnt dead……maybe the time ran out before the train got to him and her simply dissapeared, they never said what happens when the time runs out, I think, I’ve never seen it atleast. or maybe Gantz returned him back to before the incident, and he ,makes different choices, probably stopping the bum from falling onto the tracks…kinda like the Butterfly effect.

    Kei was in limbo, Gantz is his “angel of death” if you will. Kei was not ready to die when he did, and his trials got him closer and closer to the final realization that he died for a good reason, saving someone, and thus, once he learns this, he is ready to die.

    Lucky, Furor, Cyprid and Genisay all make very interesting theories and conlusions, and I have to say that I rather liked this ending. It really miffs me when the viewer is led by the hand throughout a series, and I’m glad that people are actually taking something from this series. I really enjoyed reading the comments from the four posters listed above, and I think that they are all extremely valid. This is definately the kind of show and ending where each viewer can take something personal from it, and decide on the ending for themselves.

    Well, off to the manga then!

    I am actually glad that they ended the anime because I can’t stand the screeching voice actor of Kurono. The manga is dang good and still going strong! If you don’t like the way the anime ended then I suggest reading the manga, which is completely different after Katou dies.

    T_T This is seriously messed up man. Kurono-san is the only one who survived till the end(apparently) and everyone he cared about dies senselessly-Kishimoto, Katou, Sakuraoka, Furuta, Mika. Plus we are left with a major cliffhangar. So many questions left unanswered. This was a terrible ending. Plz don’t let this be how it really ends for our heroes. ToT

    Well, the thing is that this anime has a deeper plot to it… unlike “to love ru” or “bleach or even “naruto” this story is about someone making people kill others like the government makes soldiers kill others, and It took kei to say that it’s enough and he stood up to Gantz and he won, at the end gantz disappeared and nobody was forced to kill anymore…I hope you guys see it the way I do.

    Kurono only shone in the episodes where he wants beating the shit out of Grumpy and the other giant. The best character was the fucking dog and he died, they ruined the show the second they decided to kill the dog, the sniper, the stalker, and the pretty boy haha. TOTALLY CRAP no basis whatsoever and dont tell me to read the manga even though i like the sound of “if you get 100 points you get to bring somebody back to life” but im not one of those booker readers thanks.

    Well, I DID like the anime, but this ending does really sucks.
    I had been looking for an anime with a lot of blood, well this is 1.
    I liked the plot, and if you asume that if you had 100 points (as a guy already said in these comments) you could make someone who died in the game alive again a much better plot than it already is.

    I do not like to read manga, but this one is defenetly one I WILL read.
    This storyline is intense, and if those guys die (Katou and Kishimoto and the other girl sai) and the manga continues a lot longer, it could be even more intresting (guy that posted comment here also with the link).
    Because of that I just got inspired of reading the manga, cause I was like wtf…

    And Kishimoto-san was probably still the one he loved the most (otherwise he wouldn’t have halliciunated about her).

    yes i agree the best part was when kei fucked the black haired girl. I hate katou the most. Then the old book store owner guy. Annoying EXTREMELY Aggravating characters. sad part is their are actually people who act like the old book store guy. just because you a minor does not = innocent or naive.
    Would have been nice to have some characters with some actual intelligence or balls. God damn if Yagami Light from “death note” was in the show. It would have helped so much or someone like “guts” from berserk. just someone to say STFU your an idiot and actually kill the aliens without the staring and talking like in DBZ. when did the show actually dramatically temporarly improved???? When Kai(guy) fought the big tall statues. why? Because HE USED INTELLIGENCE AND BALLS.

    Yeah so after watching DeathNote and Code Geass, this was kinda like a let down. I don’t even know where to begin, but I’ll try.

    Let’s see, first, 90% of the characters are s-t-u-p-i-d. They do or say stupid things that don’t even make sense at all or don’t have any connection, whatsoever, to what is going on. These people just watch their colleagues die. Instead of trying to do something; they cry, talk to each other, or wait until someone dies.

    They’re survival instinct is at 5%. A normal human being would try to shoot from afar instead of getting too close to the enemy, because they know it’s dangerous and they can be killed. Seriously, who would stay in that room (with all the alien statues) and wait for them to start moving? If they used their time to run outside and wait for the statues to come out, instead of talking, they would be able to shoot the alien statues from the open area since the aliens are coming out from a small room/door. More chance of hitting and killing the aliens, lesser chance of them dying. It’s just common sense.

    I was sadden when they decided to kill my favourite character, the dog. Out of them all, the dog was the smartest because he actually knows when he’s in danger. He knows how to fucking run for his life lol. I just don’t know how the hell he got there when he got stepped on by the giant statue. The writers probably just wanted to piss the viewers off because they know, we all love the dog.

    To anyone who’s reading this and hasn’t watched the anime yet, I will give you an advice: Do NOT watch this. This has got to be one of the lamest animes around. The characters in the show had a huge chance of surviving if they weren’t idiots. It’s sad how the director thinks that human beings could be that stupid.

    This was great! The ending is really weird and I don’t think it was really complete. I should probably go read the Manga and what not, which I am going to soon. My guess is, after hearing some peoples ideas who have read the actual Manga, that the ending for this is not exactly in line to what the Manga has depicted. Therefore, the ending seems a little weird and incomplete. I have a feeling that should he actually still be alive and playing Gantz’s game that he will try and keep bringing his friends back from the dead with hundreds of points. It is only a theory, but I really hope that is how the Manga is played out. It seems like the best… well I would say the most preferable way to continue the Manga. Enough weird and fucked up shit has happened all ready. I have no idea how much more of this shit I can take. I really had hoped that everyone would survive because of Kei and that he would get the girl with black hair and the girl with red hair. I only say that because I think it would be funny as hell and this Anime really could use the humor… Well… Off to go read the Manga!

    For those interested in picking up reading the manga (as it is still ongoing) the storyline in the anime and the manga follow the same track up to the point when kurono goes to see kishimoto after she has died, from here onwards the anime and the manga differ…

    the anime started to deviate from the manga half way through volume 8, so thats roughly where you’d wanna pick up the story from. Usually im not a big fan of manga but so far the manga seems a good read.

    the only thing about the anime i liked over the manga was the opening song =D its soo awesome, but yea start reading the manga its is better in my opinion and this might put some of you off but it has vampires … dont believe me read it urself i dont really like the vampires but w.e i thought it was cool… vampires and swords sorry for the spoiler but the swords are totally badass
