This episode is for people who are new to FMA, like he previous one. This episode follows the manga closer whcih is really great to see, and the animation has improved vastly. Can’t wait for the subs so I can understand some of the added scenes! ^^

IT IS better than original already. But I wished the animation quality was better.
aaaa> because he had to do it on the fly.. the suit was in the room and in order to save his brother.. he had to do something quick while the transmutation was still ongoing. it was impromptu.
Fun-Killer> err.. it starts out the same, but it follows the manga in this version of FMA. the older FMA anime sidetracked away from the manga’s plot at some point. .. in some sense u are right that it is pointless to follow the anime this time because.. it is a repeat of the MANGA. in another perspective.. it is pointless to follow the anime this time for now since for now, it is the same as the older version… for now.
whats wrong with the animation.. its a diffrent style, but fullmetal always tried new things… hell the manga revolutioned the whole manga/anime world… anyway i like it and soon everybody will

Besides ElmGM’s point you do realize that material is needed to make anything though alchemy? Obviously Ed couldn’t walk out of the room to recollecting everything and thn try make a body like you suggested.

Thanks for subbing this vid so fast!! yes its true for now its kind of dragging because we arleady now whats going to happen. for those of you who are dissing it because it is a repition i invite you to give the story a chance to unravel. ive read most of the manga and i think the plot is much better than the 2004 anime version.
FMA is a great series. Although I hate to admitt the animation didn’t live up to my expectations. preferred the 2004 animation quality.

This certainly is going a lot faster than the previous anime version… I’ve never read the manga so this is pretty nice for me. The story is different enough for me to enjoy the plot all over again.
oh… i do hope this retelling-from-another-angle thing is continuing with the rest of the series.

Really good, I liked this serious so much, even watching recaps is excitting. The whole ressurecting the mother scene seemed much more gruesome in this one imo. I Don’t find any problems with the Animation.

I found this episode a better recap – an interesting explanation about “truth”. Previosly it wasnt well explained about his ability of not using circle.
actually guys there were big differences this time around and instead of takin 9 epiosdes for the exam and stuff, they did it all in 1 episode and more this was actually WAY different

This episode is very well done and it certainly is the better *recap* of the old series. It explains how Ed lost his leg but gained information of the “truth” inside the gate(thus, him obtaining the power of transmutation without the need of making a circle) and also, the arm was lost so he can obtain Al’s soul from the gate and transmute it into the metal armor. If that doesn’t clarify enough then go read the manga or watch another show.

I just love the new FMA. The fact that now it is going to stay on the manga track is awesome(since last time the episodes were catching up with the manga they had to do something). The opening and the ending is amazing as well. I don’t know why people are complaining about the animation. The animation is just like the manga’s style(which makes it even better with following the manga story). The part when ed and al are transmuting there mom is amazing and much better done then the first. It goes into more detail about “the truth” and that. Plus in the manga you never really get to see how ed got his licensed and i like the way they show it here. The fact that they noticed ed’s talent is a lot better then him having to compete against a bunch of other people(it is kinda meaningless since we all know who would get it) so by him having his test private just shows how much more special ed is*screams ed you are just amazing* plus the new animation just adds to ed’s cuteless*he is soo cute, i love him so much* and can’t wait until next week, each episode is worth the wait just like the month long wait for each chapter…and i cant wait until greed, and may, and lin and ran and foo…there is just so many i can’t wait for, and i can wait for armstrongs older sister…i want to see how she is played.

for all the people out there this story is based on the manga where later on SPOILER al and ed meet a prince(can;t remember his name cuz it was so long ago) and other stories and more blah blah blah
What is with the two versions? Is it that it is just two different players?
Also this version is so much better than the first. its so fast passed so well drawn its just so amazing. I like how they show that ed knew right away how to transmute with out a circle that always bothered me.
TO ANY HATERS OF FMA:B ; Listen well it may seem to bea repeat now but to keep the story logical they have to start from the beginning. It will get 99.99x10to the 1337th power times better after the series progress. A particular difference to note is that Alphonse place a much larger role in the manga and is not just a foil. (or maybe he is still) Alphonse is alot better particularly in the alchemy department.
actually Alphonse’s soul is wondering aroung the “human” tat Ed and him transmuted, as stated in the manga. Fortunately a ‘repel’reaction occur so tat Al’s soul wont get attached to the “human”.
did they just say that the ice alchemist was from a pharmacy in xing? so…that mean that theres going to be squinty eyed yellow ppl now?
the story’s same as before but I just can’t bear the bad drawings!! It’s both irritating and reminding me how good was the last one!!

I don’t know if its just the couple of years since i watched the old FMA but it seems like this one is more comical and not as dark as the other one. Even the whole inhuman transmutation thing didn’t effect me as much as it did before.
I love to see the series being redone, but i wish it would have just started at the part with the Homonculos and Chimera( Greed and his lot) so that the story would instant;y be new and fresh and would shut up these whiney little ffucks saying its just a remake milking the series. Morons go read a book or something, like perhaps the FMA manga!
has anybody noticed the background music? i think its not as good as it should be. the last version had the most remarkable soundtrack on the planet. i loved it but this music isn’t as good as i find it should.
serious characters are drawn less good than the original FMA or to say Bad really bad, they made Winery a Lil Girl and The Exam bad plus its not funny and you can tell they are trying to make it funny would have been better to let FMA to live in peace gone then continue it like this
Nice episode!! Poor Ed! Can people please stop going on about his height or lack of it. I love how he just goes nuts whenever someone points out his height issue.

I don’t understand why people are saying the show is more comical. It is just as comical as the first one…but the manga is so much more darker…it totally explains so much that they left out in the other manga, plus everyone who says that the drawings suck…they don’t, the drawing and animation have gotten 10 times better than before, plus the drawings are going more towards the manga style which i like better than the first anime’s style…everything about the drawings are better(trust me i wrote a whole research paper on FMA for my college class, and i am going into this work.) plus Arakawa always loves to try something new, and the different story beginning and style just shows how much more it is not going to be like the other anime(like everyone thinks) and is going to be more like the manga(which is so much better). Besides it is only the second episode you have to give it time, and when ling, ran fan, foo, may, the real pride, the real wrath, and everyone else appears, you will just so how much better this is(try reading the manga on onemanga.com and see for yourself…much better), and again, they did the exam like this to show how special ed is, the fact that mustang went to risembool because he heard of talented alchemists…it shows who much the military went out of their way to have ed become one(again you will understand why later on, or just read the manga)
both of the versions have ther ups and downs but does it matter? every one should shutup about wich versions better or not… so what if the first or second is better? does that acomplish ANY THING? they are making a seconf version if you like it or not and if you dont like it then dont watch it!really people comment something about the video! sorry i know every one can have ther opinions but no one cares! :3

ehh… so far I think it is going too fast. The original has done a better job of developing the story/characters in a way that makes you feel for them.

the series seems to be going kinda quick, although when you think about it, it kinda has to so it can cover the majority of the manga… also, i think the gate or the “universe” is kinda humorously sadistic:)

I like the new FMA, but I like the exam they did in the old FMA, this recap was really short compared to when the old FMA spent a couple of episodes on it.
OK, the animation definitely is much nicer in this version. I do like the fast pace it’s takin up but my complaint is….it’s lost all of it’s seriousness. It’s great to be fast paced, but they’re just ruining some of the brilliant scenes by pretty much cutting them in half! Oh, and it’s annoying that they keep showing characters that aren’t supposed to show up until a long time from now. Like teacher ( I forget here name but you know what I mean). It just ruins some element of suspense.
It’s a weird creature, it is. Seems to be assuming its audience is already familiar with the characters and so on…they are going fast, but not that fast…are they? Okay, it is a little too fast. And it’s not exactly more-comical, less-dark, it just forewent the extra random serial killers, and have spent less time brooding. After all, we also haven’t had anything like the ridiculous thief episode, you know?
I just love the way the opening kicks off with #23. And it’s only reasonable that they begin it differently; the manga and the first anime already begin that way, and it needs /some/ individuality to legitimate its existence.

this shit sucks……the animation is worse, the colors are off the action is far less intense the end credits are stupid…..its just not made to be an anime. Ok it follows the manga big woop the manga is good but the animeon the manga is trash because they follow too closely to the manga. I mean the first version was perfect no plot wholes and the action was crazy. The first series embelishments made it a great anime …..but the manga version should say a manga. Personaly i would love to see a continuation of he first season even thouh it ended perfectly maybe an ova or something but this complete overhaul sucks

OK the animation is top-notch(the series got a fckin award ok? u freakin noob critics).
the reason why the style is different is because
1. it would be boring if it were the same as the original
2. it has a great resemblance to the style of the manga
the story is ‘happier’ because:
1. if it were deep, and moving as the original, once again, would be repetition and boringness.
2. new, fresh angle = more viewers
3. answers some questions
overall, this series is great, they avoided repetition as much as they can, and they succeded. the original was so…amazing, classic, and beautiful (no, im not exaturating). i cried a waterfall..:D
Everything about it was great, even the less-flashy State-Alchemy Test.
I mostly prefer really flashy and over the top events in Anime (blame One-Piece0 but this one was better. Down to earth and thinking to myself – foreshadowing.
