final fantasy fans: WARNING
if your looking for a film related to the final fantasy games or anime then dont watch this. this film fails BAD just a warning so you dont waste your time ^_^
It’s related in it’s core philosophy. Guess it’s for a more mature audience.
If you put it like that then you can relate a lot of things to Final Fantasy, and vice versa. This movie sucks hard.
The film is bad on a general level, not just when compared to the actual final fantasy video game series, probably one of the main reasons it failed to impress in the box office. You can’t say everyone who watched this has played an FF game before; thus, obviously, people without that influence as a base have disliked this movie as well; proving that it is a bad film.
Stunned &shocked knows what’s up. This movie is an atrocity which disgraces the final fantasy series. And i figure that out and I was still like..idk 10? I think everyone’s lives would be 10 times better if tis movie was never made.
IDK bout u but i thought the movie was VERY intrestiing and also it had a great story line. I do agree though that they should not have named it Final Fantasy but besides not being about FF it was a exellent movie.
The movie is all about human are in extinction, cuz of these alien! And yes it’s very interesting… i should say this, this movies doesnt follow the FF sequels… it’s like it an off-made of FF but with the title named FF….
back when it came out i always fell asleep during the movie and never watched it in its entirety.this is the first time i actually did and i have to say if it didnt have the final fantasy title to it. it would actually be a half decent movie. too much was expected of it for good reason. thats why it faied… and square had to merge with…(ugh)…enix
Something greater then mankind is trying to destroy the world. Yeah that’s not the Final Fantasy theme at all…
I think most of you are upset because there isn’t actual “magic” in it. All of it is very scientific.
I just watched the movie and I have to say; The story is actually pretty good! But yeah as RazaEdge said.. they shouldn’t have named this Final Fantasy because this movie has NOTHING to do with it. (ok, apart from the fact that the doc is called “Dr. Sid” which was expected :P)
Only reason this movie sucked to everyone is cause of one thing. It was a CGI movie. FF fans were disappointing cause they expecting something like a FF. And normal people didn’t take it serious cause it was a CGI. FF fans need to look at it as a stand alone and leave the fanboyism at the door. And normal people need to stop looking at it as a cartoon. Cause i don’t know about you but most normal people don’t like anime/CGI movies. They see it as a joke or something to laugh at and when it isn’t they dismiss it as stupid. If this was a real life movie it would probably be winning movie awards. It would still piss of the FF fans though. Just take away FF and call it spirits within.
This movie isn’t so bad. but only if you don’t compare it with the FF series.
The only and BIG downside with this movie is it almost crushed Square soft, who made it and also is behind the FF serie, the only reason square soft survived was because they merged with Enix.
And that is what i have to say about it.
yeah, just like most others i share the opinion that they shouldn’t have named this “final fantasy”
EVERY official ff(the original games i mean, not spinoffs or animes) share the same trait. Hero got a sword, a big adventure, chocobos, “cid”(i know there is a “sid” but come on!) combat, leveling up and so on and so on.
WDFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF. 2001? Why put it up now………
Just because you people are mad because you think that the movie was miss-titled doesn’t mean that it was a bad film. It’s actually a good movie to watch. And its not actually suppose to follow FF, that is because it doesn’t actually have anything to do with the games, it just so happens to have the same name. Just look at any cover for the film, there is no FF label (which if ya look at any ff game, you will see it).
Why is this here? This is suppose to be an anime site not a movie site.
I kinda thought it sucked cause it used a worn out cliche story line and lack lustre action scenes. It doesnt matter if its final fantasy or not this is just a base kids film with flashy CGI (well at the time it was). Its just so run of the mill
@Glen Anime stands for animation, no? Is this not an animation? The directors were Japanese too. Also, this site uploads animated movies every so often. Bet you haven’t noticed.
blah ok movie but kinda boring…
What’s Ben Affleck doing in an FF film? Lol
This is not animation. This is Computer Graphics. There’s a difference.
Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t anime/animations created with or through the manipulation of computer graphics? Please sir if your gonna watch Anime on an Anime website, please learn what Anime is. Especially if your gonna troll the comment thread with inaccurate comparison’s.
thr film is good.
A question to all flamers. Have you taken a look at the title of the franchise? Final Fantasy? ALL the games are about a group of warriors battling evil which plans to drastically change, dominate, or destroy the world, all the while having character development. Are all these themes incorporated in this movie? Yes. And CGI is just another form of digital ANIMATION, and since the creators of this CGI movie was Square, it has just as much right as any other movie to be here.
Visually, this movie was stunning, and, like Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, better looking than most movies of their years, and of today (excluding Avatar of course). Storyline-wise, it’s quite good. It has all the necessary FF elements to properly represent it’s title. Although it was visually stunning, the human personalities the characters portrayed didn’t seem “human” enough to fully capture the realism of the movie. But overall, it was great, 7.5/10. : D
I’m sorry, it’s just that most of the anime I have seen was all cartoony and had little to no GCI in it. I always figured that CGI was something else entirely like along the lines of live action. Sure they may both use computers to generate the images, but there’s an obvious difference in their appearance. What I’m trying to say is that anime is all colorful and cartoony while CGI in serious movies looks almost as if it were live action. I somehow never got around to seeing anime and GCI as the same.
