i always hate that movie make try to copy anime,manga or game into their movie.
Dragonball was so awesome because of it’s fast paced fighting, strange backdrops and locales, hilarity, it was relative to most audiences (not just teens), and it was generally fun to watch.
But this movie is aimed at teens, it tries too hard to be actiony, and there’s a complete lack of effort in any aspect of the movie. The kamekameha’s were wispy(and totally weak lmao). I never remember any whispy effects in the actual Dragonball. None of the actors were remotely like their Dragonball counterparts. Goku was loud obnoxious and roudy, Bulma was bright smilely but had a short temper, Chichi was… well she was sort of portrayed iffyish (that’s probably just my hormones talking though, Chichi was HOT), it’s hard picturing Master Roshi without a beard…, and Yamcha is well… kind of forgettable, and the most obvious screw up was Goku being white. I hate when black shows are all black, or japanese shows are all japanese but he’s GOKU! He should at least be SOME kind of asian. Piccolo and Goku turning into the gorilla thing were just horrible aslo. Not to mention the dragon. I always thought Shen-Long was one of the best drawn dragons I ever saw.
How many of you are gonna say that Goku should be Asian? Think for 5 seconds and realize the truth. Goku is an alien. He isn’t even from earth, let alone Asian. As well as Goku is tall and has big eyes. In no way ever in the show did Goku portray an Asian man. I am sorry but casting an American boy for Gokus is pretty correct when you think on these terms.

first thing first,Goku never went to High School he was a cuntry kid that like Martial Art(fighting),Piccolo is not Piccolo is King Piccolo bcus is the first Namek that travel to planet Earth for the first time,and they forget the anthenas that Piccolo has that is some basic about Namek,they have anthenas because they are real Aliens,Goku race is saying but it look a like Humans biengs,Bulma suppode to have a COMPLETE BLUE HAIR not blue string for her hair,Roshi is a complete PERVERT, WHAT HAPPEND TO THOSE DETAILS FROM THE ANIME SERIES,Krillin does not appear,the Big turtle that companies Roshi,the CLOUD THAT ALWAYS TRAVEL WITH GOKU,I will see it tomorrow but I know the movies is going to suck a lot,why??? the director only use 40% that was on the Manga,what the hell happend to the 60% so he add it up to his way. If you make a movie and it a live action sequel or The begining of the series of DBZ(in this case Evolution or King Piccolo SAGA) you have o make it like the manga to look a like and to brings those memories back and to continue watching more DBZ or GT,
and some other thing I will like to add WTH happend to the sequel after DBGt did they continue it or they just leave it beging and not to continue!?
forget that dragonball was a manga and anime and judge the movie on what it is. that being said, the acting was horrible especially by the guy who played goku. just another bad attempt at a fighting movie.

ill leave it at that, they ruined a perfectly good anime by trying to copy transformers (which was only good because it had good acting and good special effects that followed the cartoon), dragonball evolution is just plain gay. They could have made this a real hit but they chose to not follow the anime and use a low budget so they fucked up.

I think this is a poor excuse product of racing to get the first DBZ Movie Out.
If your familiar with the Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle movies, I think that guy should have done DBZ!
if a director can butcher this im scared to see what they’ll do to my other favorite shows. for some reason id rather settle for another anime game vs another live action movie..

DBZ – 1st and foremost, yes goku was an alien. but this is an asian anime, and since he kinda looked like the rest of them it would’ve been best to use some sort of asian actor, i mean it IS goku. goku was a fighting guru, he didnt go to high school or any bollox, he was in the middle of a forest puching holes into trees! the kamekameha’s were horrendous lol. i was like er… wtf is that supposed to be lol, kamekameha was a wtf 1 shot pwn allz kinda move!

Look u guys dont get it… People walked into this movie with the wrong Expectations… People expected Dragon Ball Z.. But some people can not read because there was no Z included. The whole show was believe it or not set in the future… So the movie needed to look futuristic. AHA! Think about what I said, watch the first 10 dragon ball episodes… then re watch the movie
I agree with The Man, it was suppossed to be futuristic. And yes, I liked the special effects and the scenery was awesome too. Before watching it, I had doubts about the cast, but they were above my expectations.
What I did not like about the movie is that they changed the story. They say that Goku arrived on a meteor, he meets Yamcha before Krillin (wtf!), he learned the Kame-Hame-Ha in one night, the fight with Piccolo lasted like one minute, and he never fought in the World Martial Arts Tournament (this one I understand, it may have made the movie too long or something), the fact that to call Shenron (the dragon) it HAD to be in a temple is bogus, the fact that Shenron was… short, when in the manga and anime his extremely long AND can speak, he also fought Piccolo without the flying Nimbus cloud or his staff. Those last two are a signature for Goku in Dragon Ball (not Z).
Overall, I think I’d give the movie a 7.5 or an 8 because of the special effects and the cast. But they changed the original story so much that the only thing that made this a Dragon Ball movie was the characters, the drangon balls and the awesome effects.
LOL…looks like Dragonball is going to pawn many people. I agree with one review stay away from the movie. Who knows maybe the upcoming Full Metal Panic Live Action starring Zac Efron will surpass DBE? lol
I would have to disagree with The Man. If you take the time to think about it, at least a average set of 90% of Dragonball fans are expecting the anime & manga. The movie, Dragonball Evolution really ruined and crushed the minds of people, not to mention one of the most hugest misunderstanding for the people that watched the movie, then starting the anime or manga.
Another one I really liked to dispute about is the graphics. It wouldn’t kill the people making it to at least attempt Shenron to look like Shenron and Piccolo to look like Piccolo.
Then there is the infamous Goku. I would agree that he could have been white as a character, but have the decency to make him have the hairstyle like the original Goku.
The speech Goku said before he did the Kamehameha was really unnecessary, not to mention how corny it is, also the way he said it wanted me to just leave the theater.
My point overall is that they should not have rushed this, if it wasn’t it really looks like it does. In my opinion to this movie, the creators of the movie did not want the money, but to piss the millions of fans existing to behold such a monstrosity.

dude if you watch through the anime goku does meet Yamacha before Krillin, because at the time goku is searching for the dragonballs with Bulma and Oolong, which is also where he meets Chi Chi and the Ox King. it isn’t till after Oolong wishes for the softer pair of underwear thus making sure Pilaf doesn’t get his wish that Goku goes to train with Master Roshi and that’s when he meets Krillin and Launch
P.S. I watched this earlier today and I thought it was pretty good, I admit I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t entirely by the story line but I got to say it was still good despite it being more action based than story, however, if it went story it would have been longer and would have taken more time and money to make. You have to see it from their POV, they have a certain amount of money and they have to do what they can inside that budget, if they go over that budget then they have to pay for it from their own pockets so they try to cut down on spending, they don’t want to spend more than they have to. So lets see you bunch of close minded freaks do what they can, and on that note if you can’t show me a professional video with FX then I don’t wanna hear your petty opinions, not everything has to be exact I don’t mind it cause it’s a nice change of pace. Also before you question it I am a die hard Dragonball/Z/GT fan, I know everything about it, I may not know the episode #s or what happened in an episode off the top of my head but I do know the story line if you were to ask “What happened when…”

Hollywood’s rendition of Dragonball (Evolution) sucks so much that I went to buy the DVD collection of Dragonball, DBZ and DBGT to appease my enraged soul.

Maybe they fucked the Dragoball Evolution on purpose, so that the sales of the DVDs and mangas of the original Dragonball will go up, and increase the viewership of Dragonball Kai in the process!
To all the above, I’m sure most of you watched the leaked rip and missed about 15mins of the movie and lacking the high end sound and picture. But either way u have to remember this movie was shot and produced on 45 mil budget unlike other heavy CG films spending 150+ mil to make. yes they should have left the movie like the show as small villans leading to bigger villans like Piccolo to build the francise up but they wanted to get the non DB fans to come also but instead you’re all ripping on the first of the films (yes they already are working on the second film since in 3 days they made half the money back) before you really let them work things out like they did for all the , hell even F4 was shit and so was superman and they had a world wide audenice already and spent 400 mil on it. just support this movie and help by giving pointers rather then rip on it.

goku does not chase after girls, he got tricked into marriage by chichi, he didnt even know what marriage was, he thought it was some eating ceremony, he never went to school, he lived in the forest and he killed his grandpa son gohan while he turned into ozaru(big ape) while looking at the full moon, not an eclipse… goku likes fighting and a cocky guy, not this lame ass sefl-esteamless emo… I’ve never heard of dragon balls speaking to the characters… ozaru is too short… the 7 dragon balls were made by kamisama and mr.popo not by 7 mystics… wtf the flying cloud doesn’t appear, I kan keep going but it’s kinda pointless posting about how much they fucked up the stoy
I Don’t even think this movie was made by the original creator of DBZ this is obviously a act of despiration by some american guy with a failed directing career, probably asked the creator of the series if he could use the title of dragonball, I heard the original creatore of the series gave up on dragonball, dbz when DBGT was made.
