I think after Light ‘DISCARDED’ the ownership of the Death Note…the story became less interesting…and after the death on L………it someway, became meaningless…!!
I loved what Near said….that Light lost to the Death God and not Near……..

…all bad guys end up losing…and its the way it should be…but not all bad ppl hv a bad heart to begin with…its the situation that influences the way ppl behave…and in this Anime…(unfortunately) it was Light…………………………….he was a good guy…..

first of all, this ending sucked balls. i feel that light should have came out on top. he should have like had a bomb planted on the warehouse so everyone goes down with him in case this happened. or he should have had tokada (w/e the bitch name was) write down mikita (w/e his damn name was) b4 killing herself. that would have saved light. or have them both just commit suicide. misa should have gotten another death note, light could have sent a pic to her via micro-videocamer and she would have killed all of them. light would have laughed then kept keeping order over the new world.

That ending just sucked. that was a stupid way to end it.
The rest was pretty good but they ruined the thing by ending it that way. Light should have won. If they were going to make him lose they should at least let him kill “N”.

aw hell i didn’t care who they were both awsome and i just wanted to se the end result. BUT DAMMIT, kira shoulda won. not because he is the main guy nor because i was rooting for him, but because near and mello are no way better than L. all that i felt basically happend was that kira under estimated them and paid for it. never under estimate, and always have a back up plan. he did with L but not with N or M. guess he got to high and mighty, or cocky… what ever. Sucks to c him die like this. i was sorta wanting to see him go against another with a death note, but still it was still an awsome anime.
he did stop war and all. controlled people through fear, but thats gods teritory. i think he forgot he was human untill he got cornered.

Okay, seriously. Somebody please explain to me why the fuck the real death note was put in a safe deposit box? Light didn’t lose this battle, the writers simply got sick of light being so damn cool and having a real sense of justice that they decided to have the person who was working for him totally screw him over. Had light been able to find people that weren’t complete retards to aid him he would have succeeded, at least in my opinion.
The ending’s almost entirely different from the manga. In the manga, the SPK and others fired at Ryuk, and Light requested Ryuk to write their names in his notebook, but Ryuk wrote only Light’s name instead.. And Light kept on shouting that he didn’t want to die, etc.. Plus there is one additional chapter in the manga as well, XD

Personally speaking the anime was meaningless after the series killed off

I think partly because the writers just wanted to extend the series to 4 seasons
Part of the charm about the series was Relation between Ruyuk and Light, they totally messed it up and and then also had L die
Which just created a unbalance , because real LIGHT would just kill of the 5 bimbo officers around him the very next day – instead of becoming the next L ? I mean why would someone smart like Light would Hang out with the 4 loser officers anyways. Common sense.
And L was amazing – I still don’t get the foot message thing between Light and L but they really did not had to kill poor L for god sakes it was just a bloody foot massage.
And in end let me just say , the other losers Near and Mello did not creted 1% interest infact I was fast forwarding when their cut scenes were coming up

In the manga, I laughed at Light’s death but in this episode, I swear, for a breif moment I actually pittied the poor guy.
Anyway, 10/10. One of the best animes I have ever seen.
Neither L nor Kira’s justice prevailed. Yet, still, it was a brilliant conclusion.
first of all the anime was so good until light died he should have won and laughted at everyone as he became the new god personally i think they should have made 2 endings 1 in wich lights get caught and die and other when he wins it could probably be more efficient that way

That was an incredibly ending. I know, I wanted Light to win, too, but that ending made an incredible statement. No human being, no matter how good their sense of “justice” is, can say “this is right and this is wrong” and then kill whoever doesnt abide. He only did what he was punishing people for, and in the proccess became one of the bad guys, himself. Using people, lying to them, killing people who have done nothing wrong…He stopped caring about making the world a better place, and only cared about winning. His motives throughout the series changed entirely, and he didn’t even notice it.
The new world would only have been his trophy.

I missed L . Near won, I like it. Light was just a meanie, no more something special.
I went into watching series knowing that Light was going to die, but still, I had hoped that he achieved his new, peaceful world. Instead, he goes crazy and gets pelted with bullets…
I had wanted Ryuzaki to still be alive or at least have the final battle be a showdown between the two.
But it wasn’t, and I’m kind of disappointed.
Still, it was a fantastic anime. I had loved the beginning when Light’s motivation seemed to make sense and Ryuzaki was still alive. The ending was just a buzz kill.

I did not like this ending because I hate ( Near ). To me, IF ( Light ) had lost to The Previous smartest one ( L ) it would be amazing. Unlike this pethatic small baby ( Near ). Every thing was prpard for him By ( L ) and with all that he was just a little bit far from losing. I think if he did not has that friend ( I do not remember his name ) without him, near would probably be dead. This why I wished to see ( L )’s victory.But since he died, I wish to see ( Light )’s vectory as well.
there is another season of death note but it is still manga.I heard that the hero is just a child. I am waiting like I am in hell because if it is season2 it should be away better than thas. B….B..Bu….But how can this be when the hero is just a CCCCCCCHILD?!!!!!!!!

light should have writen the names of all the people who would be at the meeting on the deathnote paper in his watch, then after they all died he could have taken a gun and finished the job on Near… that would have been a sick ending… oh well, I guess Light’s time was just up

1. What happens when you run out of pages to write on? Looks like Light has a limit to how many people he can kill.
2. Ryuk and Light seemed to have a bond, this was totally ignored when Ryuk could have obviously helped Light out, just like he did when he told L about the FBI agent following him. You saw how much Rem helped Misa.
3. Fuck N. Arrogant toddler. The writer’s failed us all by copping out and using this last episode to make Light fail, even though he outsmarted N, because they ran out of material to write about.
The Anime was great, L was the best character out of all of them though. This ending sucked. L’s death was made a mockery of by having Light lose to N.

OVERALL on this anime, wow it was just amazing, i got to say this anime is mad HOT,seeing how light predict the future and planned out everything and every step. i was also amazed how they are are so cautious to what they do and what they say.

when I first started watching this series, it was amazing..
I think it went down hill as soon as Light gave up ownership of the death note, although I did like the interaction between L and Light… it also went a bit downhill once it because apparent that Misa was going to show up a lot, while simutaneously giving Ryuuk less air time (he’s awsome, but he was barely in the show later on..)
I think Light giving up his death note was a fatal mistake, and so was keeping Misa alive (plus, she’s annoying lol) The whole willfully imprisoning himself thing didn’t really fix anything. all it did was drag more innocent people into it.
oh, and going after L and the FBI agents was a bad mistake too, if he hadn’t have taken action against Ray Penbar, L wouldn’t have narrowed it down. And if he had just realized that he would have enemies and shrugged it off, he would have won. He didn’t have to kill L to defeat him. Then again, it would have been smarter of Light to simply make the criminals die of random deaths, it would have been less obvious that it’s a human, and people really would think it was “divine judgement”. But nooo, Light had to have people KNOW he was the one doing it, so he could be “god of his new world”. He didn’t really care about making the world a better place, he just wanted to play god. That’s why he lost. heh, I wasn’t effected by his death, it was L’s that I could barely believe.. L was like, half the series.. and trying to replace him with Near sort of Failed XD

Hmm i diden’t like the ending at all… At some point i would have liked an ending involving Light realising what he is doing(while the rest were being killed by the note) because of something that Near says (prolly something L would have said in an earlier ep)

Well, I guess I have to say this is the best DN episode (aside from “Matsuda”)! I mean, the manga ending was funny and all, and satisfying in its own way, but this owns the manga ending! Also, I LOVE how Near beats Light!!! Also, on a side note, I think Near was cooler in the manga =/…back on topic, I don’t think L or Light were correct in their perception of “justice” (even being an L fangirl), I more agree with Near and his view on things… Anyway, I’m glad that Light regrets it all in the end. It’s a shame how everything went down, though…Light was an awesome guy with amazing prospects…too bad he was bored out of his mind.

1) Just to some guy above me (if no one has mentioned it), the other Death Note was taken by the shinigami Shidoh. That was the last known Death Note in the human world (in the possession of a human).
2) I’m still depressed that L died, but it did in fact give the show more meaning. If L had not died he and Light would have been on the same analytical levels, which would just extend the manga/anime. It would never end until they die of old age.
3) Light has his ways to manipulate people and I must agree that he is brilliant, but most of his actions are made in opportune moments (and at many points with luck). Misa played an important role in L’s death. Without Rem, Light would have never won in that arc.
4) Ryuuk had stated that he would not “help” Light. Meaning he was neutral. He only did things out of whim and for apples. Light was a lost case and revealed in the end. There is no need for Ryuuk to pull something off like Jealous or Rem. He wouldn’t trade over his life anyway.
5) Honestly Light ultimately died because of his denial. He wouldn’t have had to die so painfully. Not that Ryuuk would have allowed him to rot in jail anyway.
6) Let’s say you can’t win a game without putting your King on the front lines, and Light died with his pawns.
Goodbye…Yagami, Light. Checkmate.
OK, so I have nothing against Light dying (because he’s a psycho). And I had nothing against L dying (except for the fact that he, unless my yaoi-possessed thoughts were true, died a virgin). But $^$#%^%@$%# Near and Mello sucked so bad I can’t even . . . *sobs*
Seriously, what sort of two dimensional characters were they? They were both just defined by their “genius quirks”. Mello had his chocolate and Near had his toys. I know, I know, this is a thriller series, and as such, you can’t usually expect much in the way of character development. But L was not a 2D character. And despite knowing squat about his past, he was a very complex guy. And don’t even get me started on Light.
So basically, my whole opinion is: sure, Light was obviously going to die. But why did you let /Near/ do it of all people? And in such a contrite and forced way.

That was one of the best animes EVER!! I’ll admit that the ending coud have been a hell of a lot better, but I’m glad Near won. Why doesn’t anyone else like him? (I know he didn’t even compare to L) It was sad that Light died though (No matter how much of a nob he was).
The worst part of the entire series was the fact that L died. I almost cried when Light started smiling with him dying in his arms, L was the best character in the whole entire world of anime.
I think they could of expanded on the whole L/Light relationship, I think that it would have been more interesting if Light didn’t, in the end, want to kill L, and they really could have been friends (it would have complicated everything).
I really like the end of this episode where (I persume), Misa kills herself, and that it’s Ruyk that kills Light.
I’d also like to add a tribute to Matt who, even though he didn’t appear much, I really liked and who died with a fag in his mouth lol.
All in all, I think the whole things gives a good message on how we, as humans, can not judge who is worth life or death, that people like Light will end up unhappy in the end.

Shit…this is the first time i’ve wanted the bad guy to win…you know what they say the road to hell is paved with good intentions…though Kira’s not going anywhere..his intentions were good. The ending episode was beyond amazing…this entire anime has probably been one of the best animes i’ve seen, its so in depth and real. Through the entire series you can’t help but think, what would I do if I had the death note…and if I did would I be strong enough to kill people? I hope they make a second season

Hmm. Im annoyed by the ending. After watching episode 36, i knew it wasnt going to go smoothly and Kira would come on top so simply. But i hoped that once Near had shocked Light with the turn around, and Light was all freaking out and stuff, i hope that was actually an act of somesort, and Light had actually outdone Near. I just felt after L’s death, the show was just dragged out. But for Light, I’m kind of glad that nigga died anyway. He was extremely evil, that’s some real put in work for an antagonist.
