man i cried like a baby it was sad what happened in EP 21 but when ep 22 came out i cried with joy and happyness this has got to be one of the best romance/tragedy/comedy i have ever seen. I put this one right up there with Kanon. I cried in that one also.
Hey Okami!! I just recently started watching Chrome Shelled Regios, and Casshern Sins. By the way have you watched the first season of Clannad? If you haven’t you should! It was really awesome. I’m also enjoying, as you well know Tales of the Abyss. I also watch Tytania, Rideback and Linebarrels of Iron. I don’t know if you’d enjoy all of these or not, but just do what I do. Just try one episode, then decide whether you want to keep watching it.
Now that everyone’s going on about Kanon I think I’ll try that one as well. BTW where can I find it? It’s not on anime-media.com.

thanks for the head up alice and yea! i watched the first season and the movie which the movie made me bawl like a baby! it was soo sad i heard about the novel since the series apparently has three endings and the movie is one this is another the third is the saddest of all

Isn’t Fuu-chan adorable? She had her poor sister so confused and ummm, was that Ushio in the grass under the trees? Dude, that confused me. What the heck is she doing under the trees? Was that little girl in the other world Ushio? She did say goodbye to her daddy so I assume the little robot was Tomoya, right? Once again Alice asks too many questions, but she hopes that someone will take pity on her. Thank you!!!!
Hey alice yes Fuu-chan is adorable and hilarious….and yes that was ushio under the trees though i dont really understand y she is there in the end. but it was ushio in the other world and the robot was Tomoya…i kinda graps the concept of the two worlds though i am confused about a few little things…so i cant really explain it, but it had something to do with Tomoya letting go of his regret and reuniting with his true self, or something, since i dont fully understand it i cant really explain it hope someone else comes along that can ^^

other world house or machine. one of the two is nagisa probably. gotta go back through and track the relationships. never thought to before.
what i’m curious about is that there were those 2 sheep things in the other world. i have to wonder if they were someone. sanae and akio?

This was pretty confusing. Key anime are kind of quick to kill off the protagonist, usually a brown-haired girl. I guess this is kind of a compramise ending between the unaviodable deaths and a happy ending.
Dead Ushio and Tomoyo from episode 21 become transposed with the robot and the adult Ushio girl in he alternate world in the start of episode 22. Supposedly, like in the game, Tomoyo has earned a bunch of those little light balls by doing good deads throughout the anime- you will see them every once in awhile.
He could either choose to not ever have met Nagisa so she would not die, or meet her and try to prevent her death by wishing away the disease she has. He picks the second. Pretty funky, but not too far of a streach coming from Key.

I cried so much in episode 21, I was seriously praying for Ushio to live, and I’m so so so so so happy with this ending! Nagisa lives in the end and Ushio grows up knowing her mother and Tomoya’s there and…ahh, I’m tearing up right now! I cried so many happy tears this episode. This is one of my all-time favorite animes, for sure. I <3 Clannad.
cre4tive remember through the whole series their was all these weird lights that tomoya saw? those were a way to change what happened ways to react with the other world i suppose. as well as he was having all those dreams of the other world. think of it as him having a part of himself in that other world..the robot was him and ushio is the girl. i would love to go into a major detail but that would take so long to type here lol. im sad about one thing though that fuko and tomoya dont remember eachother after what happened

Whoa! Darn you, Key! You guys really fool us! But thank you for the happy ending although I was kinda disappointed in the part where Fuuko comes in. I would have also like Kappei to make an appearance but overall this anime was FANTASTIC!!!!

wooh where you paying attention man? The girl said those little balls of light could hold a mysterious power if you gather alot of them. During the entire thing tomoya had been helping people so he was allowed a one wish kind of deal. So he change what happen the day nagisa died.

those lights that tomoya saw throughout the entire series were collected and the girl this episode just said having enough have a mysterious power. and as u saw nagisa said in that meeting place saying that she hoped he didnt regret them meeting. so i think he had a choice to never meet or to meet and save her and their childs life

yes okami you are right, and to tomsky’s question about the girls in the screen shot…they are the girls from the choir club I think, only people that come to mind at least, my only question is the ending fuuko finds ushio under the trees but why? is it because of the first meeting in the dream and they said they wanted to be friends? gahh just as I figure everything out for the end I get thrown a curve ball…but honestly one of the best anime Ive ever watched absolutely loved it

Too answer Alice’s question >> Yes that is ushio under the tree. Ushio is that girl in the other world. Okazaki is the robot. Ushio is there because in all the episodes she walks around the hospital when its lonely. So i guess she takes a nap sometimes.

nagisa has to be the worst kind of girl to fall in love with but i guess you can’t really choose who you fall in love with….damn cheesy writers. waay to much work for tomoya, definatly shoul have been someone not as helpless and annoying as nagisa, but beyond that its an extremely good anime

wait she walked around the hospital? when was this? did I miss something? and to kask, most definitely actually is the first anime Ive had tears in Clannad and the wedding with fuuko I lost it, then nagisa’s death, then ushio and tomoya…funny first time to tear up but happens multiple times with this show..guess that’s why I love it

it’s not Yodawg… there is a preview for another episode but it’s not continuing off of this, it’s going back to the begining and changing how nagisa and tomoya met. First they change the ending and now they are changing the begining… they should just start a completely new anime with a different title. first season was the best, movie tear-jerking, 2nd season was good but destroyed the momentum from the first season.

I just rewatched this again for the 16th time and I cried again. And Tomoya did have a hard decision to make! 1) Never meet Nagisa and then he wouldn’t have to go through the heartbreak of her and Ushio dying. He would have been protecting himself. 2) Meet, fall in love and marry Nagisa and probably end up losing her and Ushio again. This time instead of thinking of himself he made the decision to think about someone else instead and his unselfish sacrifice, I believe, is what made it possible so that Nagisa and Ushio didn’t have to die.
I was blown away when he stood facing one way as Nagisa turned and went to walk away. I was at the end of my chair whispering, “Don’t let her go, Tomoya!!” Then when he screamed out her name, I being the girl I am just burst into tears. Then to make me cry even more when he gently cradled her face in his hands then, kissed her hands that totally did me in. I believe I cried for hours. It was beautiful!!
Will I watch this again? U betcha!! I think I’ll start rewatching all the episodes starting with Clannad, then continuing on with Clannad: The After Story. This series is like my favorite book. I keep it by my bed and reread it at least once a week cuz it’s that good and this anime is right up there with that book. Thanks so much to the creator of this anime. This anime is totally awesome!!!!

must say though, being able to just wish away all tragedy and change the events that happened since nagisa’s death on the last episode seems kinda like a slap in the face after all the episodes before it with him suffering from her death.
this anime always have dead persons
somehow predictable but always struck my heart and made my eyes teary… lol, not the usual type of guy that shed tears on watching…
the concept on dead persons somehow gives me a chill…
anyway thumbs up! a very unique anime!
you won’t see these kind of anime that uses ghosts or something that will tickle your soul to cry…hehe

am i the only one who kind of thinks the ending kind of defeats the purpose of the entire show? (oh, well you can change the fabric of space and time and change the past and live happily ever after)
WHAT….WHAT IN THE WORLD JUST HAPPENED?? WHAT? In fairness, Tomoya was so sweet when he hugged Nagisa like that. That’s the only part I liked in this weirdo instant happy ending. It’s just….JUST WHAT IN THE WORLD HAPPENED?
