Avatar is the Shrek of the anime world. Great story and humor that hits base with both young and old.
This show has a lot to offer both, to experienced anime watchers and those who are not at all. Basically this show is made by a bunch of anime geeks, who have also worked on shows like family guy and invader zim. (which if your familiar with ether, you know that there good at creating cult followings and out rages humor) They took those ideas and placed it into an amazing universe, that would fascinate audiences. This is what sets avatar apart from other American made shows. (except Gargoyles)
So if your looking for a new series to try, and can get past the Japanese only anime, you will be surprised and pleased.
I just want to clear up that
AVATAR IS NOT AN ANIME!!!!!!!!!! x___x
Anime is animation made in Japan. Avatar was made in America. Just cause this kinda looks like an anime doesn’t mean it is.
I’m not saying anything bad about Avatar; Infact it was a good show. I’m just pointing out that…IT’S NOT AN ANIME!!! >_<
Does it matter if avatar is anime or not? its one good show and if you did put it under an anime catagory id say it should be number one to be honest. The only thing that makes avatar different from other anime shows is the creators as far as i’m concerned i class it as an anime and nothing you lot can say against it will altar my opinion , not to sound like a nag but that’s my point of view =]

anime is japanese cartoons. Ninmaster is partly right. But ramenga your right too, but do not forget english is a second launguage in japan so yeah. And if you want to get that far the right thing this is is a nicktoon. Okay everyone happy? This is what channel it was created on. I think that this could be considered an anime as of now because they are making a japanese dub. I am so glad it is english because then everyone can know what it is.

I just found this awesome website where they have leaked clips from the upcoming series, Avatar: The Legend of Korra! They think that the show is being released at spring 2012 YAY! Theres a leak with avatar Korra fighting and metal police, I can’t wait for the show!
